They're high flyers! Katie Holmes and Cuba Gooding JR will star in Air New Zealand's new gravity-defying in-flight safety video

It's the airline that has recruited the likes of Richard Simmons, Anna Faris and supermodel Rachel Hunter to promote its services.

And Air New Zealand has this week announced Hollywood heavyweights Katie Holmes and Cuba Gooding JR as the next celebrities to star in the airline's signature in-flight safety video. 

In behind-the-scenes footage on the set of the instructional film Dawson's Creek star Katie is seen gushing about New Zealand, despite never having visited the country.

'Everyone I meet from New Zealand is so lovely, so thoughtful, such good-hearted people. I have friends from New Zealand, so I've just only heard good things.'

Meanwhile, The People v OJ Simpson: American Crime Story's Cuba chose to air his affection for New Zealand singer Gin Wigmore as her music played in the clip.

'It's melodic, it's enchanting, it's soothing, it's exactly what you need for a long-distance flight,' Cuba cooed.

Other clips show the pair diving into the air as they film scenes in front of a green screen.

In a public statement, Air New Zealand General Manager of Global Brand and Content Marketing Jodi Williams revealed that the the new air safety video will serve to showcase New Zealand's natural splendour to the world.  

'Following the success of our last safety video Summer of Safety which was shot in Northland and has had more than 7.6 million views, we wanted to showcase more of our country's cities and regions in our next safety video instalment to help encourage visitors to those areas and drive economic benefit,' she said.

'Our safety videos have earned a global reputation so it'll be great to have eyes from around the world on more of our stunning landscapes and attractions.'

Last year, supermodel Rachel Hunter starred alongside Game Of Thrones' Jo Naufahu in a tongue-in-cheek safety video for the airline. 

In the video, Rachel is seen cruising along in a blue Volkswagen Beetle before stopping to chat to a group of passengers in a nearby car.

In a conversational tone, Rachel says: 'Hey, we've got room for one more and we've got ice creams.' 

The star later goes on to explain what to do when the fasten seat belt sign comes up on board an Air New Zealand flight.
