  • 3x3: is a one-hoop-only basketball game played by 3 players (and one substitute) on each team, it includes inter alia 1x1, 2x2, skill contests and pick-ups
  • 3x3 Competition Network: is a FIBA-steered hierarchised system of 3x3 competitions integrating and comprising of the 3x3 Official Competitions as well as all (and only) FIBA-endorsed events
  • FIBA-endorsed event: any event accepting the FIBA-endorsement terms
  • 3x3 Official Competitions: Olympic Tournaments, FIBA 3x3 World Cups (incl. U18), FIBA Zone 3x3 Cups (incl. U18), FIBA 3x3 World Tour and FIBA 3x3 All Stars
  • 3x3 World Tour: A 3x3 competition organised under supervision of FIBA and comprised of several World Tour Masters and one World Tour Final, with 12 teams representing a city participating in each event; players are free to form teams
  • 3x3 World Tour Qualifier: A 3x3 competition organised by a FIBA-designee where at least one team will qualify for the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Masters in the corresponding catchment area; there are two kind of 3x3 Qualifiers: Quest and Challengers.
  • 3x3 Quest: A 3x3 Qualifier comprised of at least three events, including a final, each with at least 50 participating teams in all categories, being open to anybody.
  • 3x3 Challenger: A 3x3 Qualifier comprised of one stand-alone, international tournament with USD 5,000 prize money limited to 16 invitational teams.
  • 3x3 Satellite: A Satellite is a 3x3 Tour or single event that is yet too small to be eligible to be a direct WT Qualifier – therefore winning teams of these events are directed by FIBA to suitable 3x3 Challengers.
  • 3x3 Individual World Ranking: is a ranking of all players registered in 3x3planet.com based on the ranking points collected at FIBA-endorsed events and pick-ups
  • 3x3 Federation Ranking: is the ranking of all National Federations based on the 3x3 Individual World Ranking points of their top 100 nationals (with a confirmed 3x3planet.com account) in the respective category (men, women, U18 men, U18 women)
  • 3x3 Hub: www.fiba.com/3x3 that features all the relevant information about and around 3x3
  • 3x3planet.com: is a players-centric digital platform and games repository
  • 3x3 Backend: is a database that allows Zones and National Federations to extract reports, follow the 3x3 activity on their respective territory and register players to national-team based 3x3 Official Competitions
  • EventMaker: FIBA’s freeware to organise 3x3 events
  • Cut-off for national-team 3x3 Official Competitions: The 12.00UTC hours of the day in which the 3x3 Federation Ranking is calculated to determine the qualified teams to a World Cup or Youth Olympic Games; if on such date no rankings are calculated, then the valid ranking will be pushed back to the first day in which the rankings are calculated
  • Eligibility of National Federations members: Three FIBA-endorsed events in the territory of the given federation during the 12 months precedent to the cut-off date
  • Eligibility of players: Two FIBA-endorsed events in the 12 months precedent to the registration of the players to a 3x3 Official Competition
