Jodie Marsh has sadly announced the death of her bulldog, Louie.

Taking to Facebook on Wednesday, the 38-year-old model shared a lengthy post about her 'fur baby', as she explained she'd been worried he would pass away for more than a year.

Just days after she released a clip of herself performing CPR on the pooch when he choked on a treat, Jodie posted: 'I am absolutely heart broken to tell you that Louie passed away this afternoon [sic].'

She continued: 'As I'd said before on my twitter, I knew I didn't have long left with him. As a fur baby mummy you can just tell when they start to deteriorate. Every morning for the last year I have been coming downstairs with my fingers crossed that he's still with me.

'Most mornings I would be woken up at 7am by him barking to go out. The odd morning I slept until my alarm went off at 7.30 and he DIDN'T bark, I flew down the stairs in a panic thinking the worst, to then find him snoring and snuggled up with the others.

'I have been resuscitating him for two years and I'm glad I did. It's given me an extra two years with a dog that can only be described as an angel. He came from a horrid background of no love and no walks and when I rescued him nearly 11 years ago, I fell in love with him on sight and it was like he knew I'd come to make his life better.'

She continued: 'Louie has had the most amazing quality of life and the most wonderful life. He's been to Norfolk with me and walked along the cliffs, he's been to Somerset and walked through fields of wild flowers and he's been to Cornwall with me and walked along the beach. He has played football with us all (friends, family, me, my other dogs) and he loved his walks more than anything.

'His favourite game was to be chased while carrying a stick or a ball (which he was still doing as recently as last week). When you asked him "is that my stick?" He would vigorously shake his head as if he was saying "no". He has brought us all so much love and laughter and I'm so grateful that I had these amazing years with him.

'Louie was an incredible dog with a huge personality. I wouldn't have kept resuscitating him if I thought he was in pain or suffering or not enjoying life. The worst episode he ever had where I honestly thought I'd lost him was 2 years ago and I still don't know how I managed to bring him back and he's loved life so much for the last two years.

'Even since his episode on Sunday he has been playing football in the garden with me and the other dogs! The most recent video I have of Louie taken a few weeks ago is one I made promoting my supplement company and it shows him happily running round the park with me.

'I'm not going to post it now as I don't have the strength to deal with the haters who will think I'm using this to plug my business (I'm not and would never, it's just that it's the most recent video I have which shows how happy he was). No matter what I do I get trolls having a go at me and today I can't deal with it. I am crying as I write this.

'Unfortunately today the dogs were playing in the garden and I was working inside & when I went out an hour later he was gone. I have been living with the fear that he could have one of his episodes when I'm not around and there would be nothing I could do. Today was that day. No one can physically watch a dog 24/7 even though I have done my best to work from home recently and to be around as much as physically possible.

'I'm so glad my mum managed to film Louie's episode and me resuscitating him last Sunday because, as I said before, I have been doing this for two years and this was the first time someone was there to catch it on camera. It may help save another dog's life. It may help an owner to stay calm while waiting for a vet, it may help people to understand a little more about bulldogs and about their needs, it may encourage people to do a dog CPR course.

'RIP Louie my angel. You were the perfect dog. You brought me nothing but happiness and love and laughter. I am totally utterly heart broken.'

Jodie's emotional post came after she sprung into action on Sunday when Louie showed 'no signs of life' after choking on a treat too big for his throat.

In the heart-stopping clip, the six-year-old animal can be seen lying on the kitchen floor completely limp.

Jodie first attempted to dislodge the treat by sticking her hand down her dog's throat.

But when this proves unsuccessful, she pressed down on him stomach and carried out CPR on the pooch in the five minute video.

When the dog begins to breathe, the reality star then comforted her animal by stroking him after saving his life.

Describing the incident, she wrote, 'We had given all the dogs some treats today and Louie had picked one up that was too big for his throat.

'He choked, passed out, went completely limp, urinated on himself and his tongue went blue.

'It's so bad you would honestly think he's dead. He had no signs of life.'

Jodie shared the video on Facebook to get the 'attention' of all bulldog owners and show them they can rescue their animals if they are choking.

She urged: 'Please watch and learn and show to any bulldog owner. You can bring them back round if they collapse like this.'

Completely devoted to her pets, Jodie previously told K9 magazine: 'I truly think that they’re the world’s best anti-depressant. My dogs are my family and I do feel like they're all my kids.

'They mean more to me than anyone and if I had to choose between dogs and people, I'd choose a dog every time.

'Their love is unconditional.'
