And Shania Twain, who is the best-selling female artist in the history of country music, has now detailed her 'debilitating' battle with Lyme disease - which also slowed down her music career after it caused her to 'lose her voice.'

The 51-year-old famed singer also reflected on her failed marriage to the record producer - heartbreakingly claiming that when the 'marriage fell away, so did the musical collaboration.'

Soon after that she disappeared from the limelight - blaming her crushing marriage woes to Lange as the reason why, and most recently her devastating battle with Lyme disease. 

Revealing all about the health condition in a candid new interview with The Sun's Bizarre life podcast: 'I lost my voice for several years and I could speak but I couldn’t yell. I could never yell for my dog or my son or whatever.'

Speaking of the disease, which is a bacterial infection spread to humans by infected ticks, Shania admitted it was 'depressing' - however she found solace in her 'first love' - writing.

The That Don't Impress Me Much hitmaker, who then spent 'several years getting her voice back on track', also confessed that looking back she thought she would never be able to release another album again. 

However, that is not the case as she is set to release new music with her upcoming album Now - which is set to be a moneymaker just like her previous endeavours. 

The new album will be Shania's fifth overall, following up Shania Twain (1993), The Woman in Me (1995), Come On Over (1997) and Up! 

While Shania's health was taking a turn for the worse, so was her love life - as after fifteen years of marriage, she found out that her best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud was having an affair with her husband Mutt.

Looking back on the low point of her life, the brunette innocently revealed: 'I thought that marriage was forever. I really, really believed that. I thought, "I’m safe. This creative relationship is forever". And I really counted on that.'

Ironically, after both couples separated in 2010, Twain and Frederic found solace with each other and have been happily married since 2011.

'I've learned a lot about myself, she told the publication, adding: 'It's scary to learn how vulnerable you can be.'

Explaining ballad Who's Gonna Be Your Girl? from her new album which is due for release in May, the Canadian-native revealed: 'It's about feeling unappreciated and knowing that you are secondary. Having to live with someone that has different priorities and accepting that you're not the most important thing in a person's life.'

'Another song, Swinging With My Eyes Closed, is about fighting back against pain. 'The fighter in me wrote that song,' she told them, 'I was thinking of a boxer taking a swing, or a baby first coming out with his eyes and fists closed. They can't even see yet and they're swinging with their eyes closed.'
