Dressed to impress in a midnight blue gown and dazzling diamond accessories, Queen Letizia looked honoured as she was greeted with a kiss when she arrived at the event hosted by Princess Anne and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence at a banquet at Guildhall given by the Lord Mayor and City of London Corporation. The British monarchy certainly pulled out all the stops to welcome the Spaniards with the Royal Air Force Music and The Queen's Colour Squadron Guard of Honour performing as guests started to arrive at the banquet held in honour of the state visit by the King and Queen of Spain. The Lord Mayor and The King are both expected to make speeches at the end of the lavish banquet in London.

Rio Ferdinand has been left heartbroken by the death today of his mother to cancer after she stood by his side through the turmoil of losing his wife just two years ago to the disease. Janice St Fort (left with Rio and inset), devoted mother to Rio, died in hospital at the age of 58 after losing her battle to breast cancer with her crushed family at her bedside. The tragic news comes just two years after Rio lost his wife Rebecca (top right) through cancer - something he spoke movingly about in the BBC's Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad earlier this year. His mother featured in the documentary and provided strength for the former footballer who struggled bravely with the responsibility of raising his children without their mother being around. A statement issued by Rio and the family - which includes Rio's half sister Sian and his brother Anton seen bottom right - nodded to Mrs St Fort's role in helping the former footballer through the loss of his wife, saying: 'Our mum was the centre and the heart of our family and has supported us all through many difficult times, always with a smile on her face.'

The Trumps are dining tonight at Le Jules Verne, on the second floor of the famous French monument. They're the guests of Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron, the first lady and president of France. Chef Alain Ducasse prepared a menu of French classics including pates, Dover sole, filet of beef in a truffle sauce and a chocolate soufflé.

Donald Trump complemented the French First Lady Brigitte Macron after spending an hour with her in Paris on Thursday, saying: 'You're in such good shape.' Trump, was also involved in a lengthy grip of hands with Brigitte Macron, 64 as the U.S. and French first couples met in Paris - and it appeared that Mme Macron was trying to get him to let go. Trump and Melania are in the French capital at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron, the 39-year-old president, who exchanged a Parisian-greeting with Melania, 47. The embraces were on the steps of Les Invalides, the massive French monument to its war dead. Macron has invited Trump as he tries to build a rapport with the U.S. leader despite their differences on trade and climate change. The two presidents' handshake and arm-embrace was more low-key than the now-notorious power grip when they first met earlier this year.

More than 1,000 polyamorous couples have descended on New Orleans, Louisiana, for the annual Naughty in N'awlins event, the world's largest swinging convention (pictured). Dozens of cars modified by ISIS to carry out deadly suicide bombings have been put on exhibition in Mosul after they were confiscated by Iraqi police.  Most of the vehicles are standard SUV cars that you would find on driveways up and down the country only with the outer shell replaced with bulletproof iron sheets making them look like something from Robot Wars. After police liberated the neighbourhood of Hamam al-Qalil from the terror group, chiefs decide to parade their findings in Northern Iraq. As well as replacing the outer casing of the car, Islamic State fighters changed the passenger seats to compartments fit to be packed with explosives. Once the clunky customisation was complete, the terror group would sit its martyrs in the driving seat and send them to the target with their protective casing meaning they could reach their destination even if they came under heavy fire.

Three-year-old Amaya Vester was found safe Wednesday night, after a thief stole the car she was sleeping in. The toddler's mother's boyfriend had stopped at a Kansas City, Kansas gas station and left her in the running car to go inside and buy the girl a drink. A woman took advantage and stole the car while he was inside the store. About 90 minutes later, a news helicopter spotted the abandoned vehicle with the girl inside in a rural area of Levenworth County, Kansas. Aerial footage shows the moment that little Amaya ran into the arms of a police officer who responded to the scene.

A brand new baby Jaguar leapt into the record books tonight, as the British car maker took the wraps off the E-Pace at a star-studded launch. A record-breaking James Bond-style barrel roll jump was performed, as Jaguar revealed the new E-Pace family-sized SUV - a car designed more for mums and dads on the school run than parking at the golf club.

A teenage father who covered half of his face with a tattoo reading 'DEVAST8' has lamented his struggle to find work. Mark Cropp (left and right with his partner), 19, had been drinking home brew alcohol behind bars in New Zealand's Christchurch when he went under the needle last year. But after serving his sentence for armed robbery, Cropp has found the ink to be a stain on his job prospects in the free world. 'Hey im keen as to work but have one thing that is stoping me and thats my tattoo on my face. Keen as on job or work place that will take me on [sic],' he said in a Facebook post.

An overweight man appears to have lost his girlfriend after he was propositioned by a sexy 'personal trainer' actress in a sting set up. Intense scenes from YouTube channel, To Catch A Cheater, show the man becoming engaged in a raunchy stretching exercise with the trainer while his lover watched on a secret camera. The shocking video, taken in Mexico City, starts with the American woman's Mexican boyfriend stretching in a gym before being greeted by 'Andrea'.'Andrea' then introduced herself as a personal trainer and leads the man through a series of workouts, even slapping his behind as he lifted a weight.

The London-based Museum will unveil the new star of its entrance 'Hintze Hall' today, ahead of the public opening at 10am tomorrow. The skeleton (main and inset images) once belonged to a whale that became stranded in 1891 in Wexford Harbour, Ireland, and first went on display at the museum in 1934. Curators, conservation teams and engineers have been working on the skeleton for months cleaning and preparing it for its new home in Hintze Hall. Hope takes centre stage at the museum in place of Dippy (pictured bottom left in 1905), the Diplodocus dinosaur skeleton cast that is soon to embark on a two-year tour of the UK, visiting Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales and five regions across England.

An eerie giant skull appeared above Mount Vesuvius as surrounding wildfires spewed smoke over the Italian volcano. Around 1,000 tourists were evacuated by boat from wildfires in Sicily yesterday, as swathes of southern Italy burned after months with little rainfall. The cause of the fire remains unknown, with some pointing a finger at the mafia, but in the aftermath the ghoulish face appeared to be looming large over the sea. Rosario Scotto Di Minico posted the picture on Facebook with the caption, 'After millennia the monster of Vesuvius came out'.

This is the harrowing moment a kangaroo joey desperately reached out from his pouch for his dead mum. Heartbreaking footage shows the tiny animal outstretch his paw to feel his mother's touch, but it never comes. It is believed the adult Kangaroo was hit by a car in central Victoria, Australia. The dead roo and the joey, which was just a few days old, were discovered by Macedon Ranges Wildlife Network. When the rescuer found the lifeless adult, she noticed the joey stretching his tiny arm out of his pouch, as if he was waving for help. 

The complacent kitty seems unfazed by his shelled adversary's presence as it casually struts away from the tortoise. But the rampant reptile catches up to the feline when it decides to sits down. The tortoise recoils into its shell briefly when it approaches the cat. But in a split second, the reptile suddenly lashes out at the cat's tail.
