Duchess of Cambridge visits the Natural History Museum

Kate (pictured), 35, wore a pale blue dress for tonight's event and although she was seen without any extravagant jewellery or a tiara she still managed to steal the show. The Duchess showed off her fresh 'kob' hairstyle which is noticeably shorter than her earlier looks. Kate, who is a patron of the museum, and the famous naturalist Sir David Attenborough (centre) are among the first to see the 25-metre long skeleton (inset) suspended from the ceiling in the revamped Hintze Hall. The whale skeleton has replaced Dippy the Diplodocus, which first went on display there in 1979. When the museum announced it was dismantling the dinosaur display, 14,000 people signed a petition to stop the move. The Duchess will also tour Hintze Hall's 10 other new displays chosen from the museum's collection of more than 80 million specimens.

Teenagers using a secret emoji code to deal Class A drugs

An undercover operation exposed how popular social networks, including Snapchat and Instagram, have become a 'paradise' for those dealing in illegal substances. Youngsters in the UK are even employing a code made up of 'emojis' (top) - small digital images normally used to convey emotions - to conceal the deals. Would you let your husband choose your hairdo?

They say that a woman's hair is her crowning glory - and most women want to keep it that way. A favoured hairstyle is such a key part of a woman's look that many don't change it for years. And if change is on the horizon, often the ones who might be sought for advice are a trusted stylist or female best friend. But now experts say there's another very surprising person who may know better than anyone what will really suit you: your husband. Five brave women, including Suzanne Riback (left), Laura Weston (centre) and Judy Stansell (right), not only asked their husbands what they really thought of their hair - but then allowed them to instruct stylists at a top London salon to cut it to their specifications.

How Phil Collins’ divorce drove his daughter to anorexia

Lily Collins' bones are jutting out, her cheeks are hollow and her eyes all but protuding from their sockets. She's playing a 20-year-old with an eating disorder in her latest film and she looks alarming frail. Yet in what is a tough and unsparing portrayal, she refused most of the stand-bys other actresses have used when taking roles as anorexics: chiefly pale make-up and oversized clothes. Instead, 28-year-old Miss Collins, the Surrey-born daughter of former Genesis frontman Phil (bottom right) and his second wife, Jill Tavelman, drew on her own teenage experience and reportedly shed 20lb (top right). The film, To The Bone, is being accused of shallowness, sexism and glamorising and exploiting anorexia. But in her first full interview about the movie, Lily argues that she is simply telling it like it is and hopes vulnerable teenagers will take notice.

Janice St Fort (left with Rio and inset), devoted mother to Rio, died in hospital at the age of 58 after losing her battle to breast cancer with her crushed family at her bedside. The tragic news comes just two years after Rio lost his wife Rebecca (top right) through cancer - something he spoke movingly about in the BBC's Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad earlier this year. Johanna Konta's Wimbledon dream went up in smoke as she was beaten in the semi-finals by an inspired Venus Williams. Konta was hoping to become Britain's first female Wimbledon singles champion since Virginia Wade in 1977 but the evergreen Williams proved a class above and sealed a 6-4 6-2 victory. The 37-year-old will eclipse her sister Serena as the oldest women's champion of modern times if she defeats Spain's Garbine Muguruza on Saturday. The Trumps and the Macrons dine at the Eiffel Tower

Donald Trump sat beside the French first lady he had told was 'in such good shape' for a six course dinner at the Eifell Tower's restaurant, with Emmanuel Macron sitting beside Melania. In a nod to the national flags of France and the United States,' First Lady Melania Trump showed up to dinner at Restaurant Jules Verne in a red, white and blue dress. The Trumps are dining tonight at Le Jules Verne, on the second floor of the famous French monument. They're the guests of Brigitte and Emmanuel Macron, the first lady and president of France. Chef Alain Ducasse prepared a menu of French classics including pates, Dover sole, filet of beef in a truffle sauce and a chocolate soufflé.

'You're in such good shape! Beautiful!' What Trump told Brigitte Macron, 64, after awkward embrace when he refused to let her go

Donald Trump complemented the French First Lady Brigitte Macron after spending an hour with her in Paris on Thursday, saying: 'You're in such good shape.' Trump, was also involved in a lengthy grip of hands with Brigitte Macron, 64 as the U.S. and French first couples met in Paris - and it appeared that Mme Macron was trying to get him to let go. Trump and Melania are in the French capital at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron, the 39-year-old president, who exchanged a Parisian-greeting with Melania, 47. The embraces were on the steps of Les Invalides, the massive French monument to its war dead. Macron has invited Trump as he tries to build a rapport with the U.S. leader despite their differences on trade and climate change. The two presidents' handshake and arm-embrace was more low-key than the now-notorious power grip when they first met earlier this year.

More than 1,000 polyamorous couples have descended on New Orleans, Louisiana, for the annual Naughty in N'awlins event, the world's largest swinging convention (pictured). Vibrant photos from its Sexual Freedom Parade show scantily clad swingers frolicking through the streets of New Orleans draped in colourful beads. The parade, which organizers claim is the biggest of its kind in the country, is aimed at raising awareness of polyamorous relationships, swinging lifestyles and 'archaic laws outlawing sex toys'. During the week-long convention, couples attend workshops, seminars, parties, naked speed dating and - most importantly - nightly erotic balls.

ISIS’s modified cars wrapped in bulletproof metal sheets

Dozens of cars modified by ISIS to carry out deadly suicide bombings have been put on exhibition in Mosul after they were confiscated by Iraqi police.  Most of the vehicles are standard SUV cars that you would find on driveways up and down the country only with the outer shell replaced with bulletproof iron sheets making them look like something from Robot Wars. After police liberated the neighbourhood of Hamam al-Qalil from the terror group, chiefs decide to parade their findings in Northern Iraq. As well as replacing the outer casing of the car, Islamic State fighters changed the passenger seats to compartments fit to be packed with explosives. Once the clunky customisation was complete, the terror group would sit its martyrs in the driving seat and send them to the target with their protective casing meaning they could reach their destination even if they came under heavy fire.
