And now a new Us Weekly report claims Jennifer Lopez hired a private investigator to follow around her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez after a tabloid report of his former alleged mistress came out.

Sources told the website that Alex, 41, and Jennifer, 47, got into a 'huge fight' once the baseball star discovered she had employed someone to keep tabs on him.

A source close to Jennifer told DailyMail.com that the claim she had hired a private investigator is untrue.

'But they're working through it,' the insider added.

The source said Jennifer is really enamored by Alex and is 'trying to control as much as she can.'

In an interview with the National Enquirer published in June, Lauren Hunter opened about her alleged relationship with the former baseball star.

The interview came one day after TMZ reported that Alex had been contacted by a woman who was demanding $600,000, saying if he did not pay she would release private text messages between the pair.

Alex was reportedly never in a serious relationship with the woman according to the report but she has continued to contact him over the past three years.

A source has told the site that the woman 'intended to release old texts with Alex from when they were dating, and make it seem like he was still contacting her while dating Jennifer.'

A-Rod has reportedly told the woman he won't pay and is in a 'committed' relationship with Jennifer.

The star has also informed his legal team who are preparing to go the the police if the threats continue.
