They have been notoriously private about their romance ever since they first began dating two years ago.

But according to reports, Alexa Chung and boyfriend Alexander Skarsgard have now called time on their on/off relationship.

The couple are said to have split over a month after their second anniversary, after the Tarzan actor, 40, had enjoyed a date with Leonardo DiCaprio's model ex Toni Garrn.

The high profile couple had chosen to keep their relationship away from the spotlight and had avoided publicly confirming their romance when they were first linked in June 2015.

Alexander, 40, and Alexa, 33, were last seen together in May, earlier this year, and had made a rare appearance together at the Met Gala in New York.

MailOnline have contacted representatives for both Alexa and Alexander.

A source, meanwhile, had claimed to the New York Post's Page Six that Alexander had been set up on a blind date with DiCaprio's former flame Toni by a mutual friend.

Toni Garrn is out in Spain soaking up the sunshine and she was showing off her figure of dreams in this Instagram snap.

Tall, toned and sunkissed, Toni was looking fabulous on her vacation and this bikini certainly helped matters.

She and The Revenant actor Leonardo, who is 18 years her senior, had dated for over a year, splitting in 2014 after he was reportedly seen leaving a club with '20 girls' in South Beach, Florida.

They enjoyed a low-key relationship and never made a red carpet appearance during their time together.

The blonde beauty is said to have met with Alexander for lunch at his house, bringing along two female friends with her in an attempt to rid herself of her 'nerves'.

Although, it sounds like the date had been unsuccessful, as the source added: 'This was the first time they had met... they didn't hit it off big time. There may not be a second date on the cards.'

The publication had contacted a representative for Toni, who insisted reports of a date between the catwalk star and Alexander are 'untrue', but they were unsure whether she had spent any time with the actor.

His former girlfriend Alexa, meanwhile, has previously shared her worries when it comes to dating.

Speaking to The Daily Telegraph three months ago, the fashionista confessed she has a 'pathological fear' of dating and likes a potential suitor to downplay their first meeting.

She said: 'If someone says, "Do you want to meet for dinner?" I'm like, "Is that a date?" and then usually, if they're funny and get it they say no.'

The fashion designer then told Harper's Bazaar that she believes she is a 'nightmare' to date. She said: 'I don't like being told what to do and I don't want to be penned in. I don't want to feel I have to be anywhere.

'I am quite restless. It makes me a nightmare to date, I think.'

Alexa has previously dated fashion photographer David Titlow and Arctic Monkeys star Alex Turner.

She and Alex were together for four years between 2007 until 2011. She had stressed following their split that the pair had remained 'best friends'.
