SPOILER ALERT: Michelle Connor attacks drug dealer Rich as a mass brawl erupts on the Coronation Street cobbles following Chesney's stabbing

There's set to be chaos on the Coronation Street cobbles when a mass brawl breaks out in Wetherfield. 

In upcoming scenes from the ITV soap Michelle (Kym Marsh) has to be physically restrained as she goes after drug dealer Rich (Fraser Ayres) for stabbing Chesney in the bistro. 

Held back by Maria (Samia Longchambon) and Kate Connor (Faye Brookes) the barmaid is furious as she goes after the soap's resident bad boy.

In the shocking scenes, Michelle's boyfriend Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) is forced to intervene and ends up nearly throttling him.

Attempting to stop an all-out brawl, Maria and Kate are forced to jump in and separate the men amid their violent showdown. 

Despite the tense nature of the scenes, the cast were seen chuckling away together between takes.

Whilst Rich has provided compelling viewing on the soap, his antics alarmed viewers recently, who criticised the long-running soap when they showed the character snorting cocaine before the watershed.

In the programme, which started at 8.30pm, Rich was seen taking the class-A substance while sitting in his car with Robert.

Robert was in possession of a small bag of cocaine as he watched Rich snort the dangerous drug.

After Rich finished his stash, he opened up to his friend as Robert asked for more cocaine.

When he got out of his car to confront a group of men who knocked his car, he was arrested by plain clothes policemen.

It was revealed that Robert was the one who had helped organise the sting operation.

As Rich was read his rights, he looked at Robert and said: 'You're finished.' 

Viewers were shocked by the explicit content in the pre-watershed programme and some even tweeted Ofcom to complain. 

The watershed, which lasts from 9pm to 5.30am, is intended to protect young people from seeing inappropriate or disturbing material.

This includes swearing, sexual content, and particularly graphic scenes.
