This is the moment an American college graduate took a selfie with a blonde woman inside a bar in Greece, which led to him being beaten to death by a mob in an attack that witnesses say was racially motivated.

Surveillance footage shows Bakari Henderson, 22, posing for a photo with the woman and a male friend inside Bar Code in the tourist area of Laganas on the Greek island of Zakynthos on June 7.

The 20-year-old woman Henderson posed with, who does public relations for the bar, told police she was speaking and dancing with the American and one of his friends before they took the selfie.

The video, obtained by Greek newspaper Protothema, shows the moment the blonde dances up next to Henderson and a friend as they lean in for the photo.

A white man is then spotted arriving from the left hand side. He squares up to Henderson and slaps him across the head.

Henderson, who is wearing light colored shorts and a t-shirt, can be seen throwing a punch and chaos quickly breaks out.

The American ran out of the bar and was captured on different surveillance footage being tackled by a large group of Serbian men outside. They allegedly punched and kicked him repeatedly until he was dead.

The latest footage comes on the day Henderson was buried in his hometown of Austin, Texas on Saturday.

The King-Tears Mortuary, the funeral home handling his body, confirmed that the service began at 11am Saturday at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church in Austin.

The 22-year-old went to Greece to a week ago to do a photoshoot to launch a fashion magazine and start his career as an entrepreneur.

Now his family have brought the University of Arizona graduate home to say their final goodbyes.

The footage from inside the bar was published earlier this week but the identities of those in the video has only just emerged after eye witness accounts corroborated the shocking chain of events.

Police interviews with the suspects and the witnesses were first reported by Greek TV station ALPHA.

The blonde in the video told Greek Security Division investigators: 'A Serbian who was near us came up to me and said: 'There are so many Serbians here, why are you talking to a black guy?'.

'I ignored him but Bakari started talking to him. I don't remember what it is they said. Then the Serbian slapped Bakari, who then hit the Serb with a bottle of beer over the head.

'I got out (of the bar) with three of the Americans and about 30 Serbs, who started hitting the Americans.

'Five minutes later I walked towards the place where I saw them running towards and I saw a dark-skinned man on the street, passed out and bleeding from his eyes while one of the Americans next to him was trying to help.'

The girl said that she could identify two of the people seen hitting Henderson in CCTV footage recorded outside on the street.

'I can see a bartender who stops the American and throws him towards that car alongside another person who I don't recognize and kicks him repeatedly while he's on the ground.

'I can identify the other guy who works for me too. He appears to hit the American repeatedly with punches and kicks while he's on the ground.'

Nine people have been charged over the killing, including a 32-year-old Briton security guard of Serbian origin and a 34-year-old Greek barman.

The other seven who have been charged are Serbians.

Henderson's killing has become a national scandal in Greece and Serbia.

The Serbian ambassador to Athens, Dusan Spasoejvic, said that a security deal between his country and Greece - which has been in the works for at least a month - will now be brought forward.

It will allow Serbian police officers to be stationed in Laganas, which does not have its own police station, to assist with maintaining order in the area and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Spasoejvic said that Henderson's killing was due to 'excessive alcohol consumption' and not to nationalist or racist motives.

'The accident had nothing to do with the nationalities of the civilians involved,' he said. 'In Belgrade, but also in many other cities in Serbia, we host a big number of tourists from both Serbia and the US.

'It's very unfair to generalize based on one case and to give such political or nationalist undertones.'

According to the Greek Security Division, the incident began at 3.15am on Friday at Bar Code.

Separate CCTV footage from a bar on the same street shows Henderson running along the sidewalk as he tries to get away from the mob.

A man body slams him into the front of a car from the right hand side and Henderson begins to fall to the floor. As he goes down one attacker kicks him in the back as he falls, another punches him in the face and the first man kicks him again before he reaches the floor.

The mob crowd round and continue to kick him during the 20 second assault.

Henderson did not get up and the attackers milled around over his body, leaving him bleeding to death on the street.

Others in the group pushed the attackers away and a woman eventually stood over Henderson's body with her arms raised to stop them coming near him.

Nenad Jovanovic, who was released on bail with another Serb, said that neither of them took part in the attack.

Jovanovic, 22, said in an interview that he was just 'at the wrong place at the wrong time'.

He said: 'I saw big chaos, pushing around, nothing else'.

Jovanovic said he expected to move on with his life, adding: 'I feel bad that we were there in the first place... I am sorry about the young man. Nobody deserves that.'

According to leaked police interviews, the Greek bartender told officers: 'Yes, I hit him, but I had no intention of killing him. I saw the incident taking place and I ran out to help my colleague'.

The security guard also claim he did not hit Henderson and said: 'Or at least I wasn't the one who delivered the deadly blows, as my hand is broken'.

Henderson was an aspiring entrepreneur and his family and friends said he was 'so determined in life' and that it was 'always a beautiful day' when was around.

On his Facebook page, Henderson said he was a fan of Kobe Bryant and posted a picture of himself in a Los Angeles Lakers shirt. He posted another photo with some friends where he wrote: 'Great weekend (with) the homies'.

Henderson's friend, Daniel Brown, described him as a 'selfless' person who he had never seen 'rattled a day in my life'.

He said: 'He was never really worried about material objects or social status or anything like that and he was non-judging of everyone he met.

'And because of that, he easily had the most diverse and large group of friends anyone could ask for'.

Henderson's cousin Jan Richardson has described the killing as a 'traumatizing situation'.

Richardson said: 'You just try to move through day-to-day, trying to get done what needs to be done'.
