SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Can't you buy Dave some new clothes, Sam? Former PM wears same shirt, jeans and black shoes to two events in a month

The 'Posh Girl' exodus at Vogue continues apace as its new editor, Edward Enninful, prepares to take over in the autumn.

On Thursday night, the magazine’s deputy editor of ten years, Emily Sheffield, was given her own stylish send-off in the leafy suburbs of north- west London.

Hosted by former editor Alexandra Shulman — just three weeks after her own leaving bash at Dock Kitchen — it was a glamorous affair.

Sheffield, 44, was joined by her older sister Samantha Cameron with her husband, ex-PM Dave, fashion stylist Sophia Hesketh, daughter of former Conservative Party treasurer Lord Hesketh, and Peaky Blinders actress Helen McCrory, who arrived with newly shorn hair and several Selfridges shopping bags on her arms.

At the soiree, held at Shulman’s £3.5million house in Queen’s Park, guests refreshed themselves with white wine, pink vodka cocktails and gin and tonics.

Less preparation was put into some of their outfits, however, for Dave sported the very same navy coloured shirt, jeans and black shoes that he wore to Alexandra’s send-off last month. He’s clearly in need of a fashion makeover from his designer wife.

There was no sign of Vogue’s recently departed fashion director Lucinda Chambers — which was just as well given her own withering interview last week after 36 years at the magazine. ‘Truth be told, I haven’t read Vogue in years,’ she said, calling the magazine’s clothes ‘irrelevant’ and ‘ridiculously expensive’.

‘In fashion, we are always trying to make people buy something they don’t need,’ she added, revealing that her employment had been terminated by the magazine.

Enninful, a Ghanaian-born British stylist and fashion director at W Magazine, is apparently on a mission to purge the publication of all ‘posh girls’, and he has appointed Naomi Campbell as a new contributing editor.

Earlier this week, he joined Kate Moss at her favourite detox centre in Turkey with ex-model Sadie Frost, Sadie’s boyfriend Darren Strowger and nutritionist Rosemary Ferguson.

Sheffield was widely tipped to take over from Shulman as editor, so it was inevitable that she would follow Chambers out of Vogue HQ’s revolving door.

Labour deputy leader Tom Watson couldn’t resist mocking his guv’nor at Parliament’s UK Music reception, attended by Sandie Shaw, Julian Lloyd Webber and the lesser-spotted former Wham! star Andrew Ridgeley. ‘I’m very sorry Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn can’t be with you tonight. It’s the music festival season so he’s a little busy.’ The boozy audience interrupted with a round of ‘Oh, Jeremy Corbyn’, forcing Watson to join in with less than total enthusiasm.

Marmite Clarkson is still raking it in

Life after Top Gear is looking increasingly golden for petrolhead Jeremy Clarkson and his sidekicks James May and Richard Hammond.

Chump Productions, the company the trio set up with ex-BBC producer Andy Wilman to make their new Amazon Prime show The Grand Tour, made a £6.3 million profit from ‘television production’ over the year to December 2016, new accounts reveal. Despite being sacked by the BBC for punching a producer and splitting his lip, motormouth Clarkson reportedly signed a £9.6 million per series deal with Amazon Prime, making him Britain’s highest-paid TV star.

And it seems his new venture is keen to keep hold of the golden goose. Chump Productions says: ‘Management aims to minimise risk by retaining key staff.’

While Sir Mick Jagger built a career on musical talent, his daughter Georgia May prefers a more seductive way of making money. The 25-year-old model, whose mother is Texan Jerry Hall, delighted her followers on social media this week by posting this photo (left), in which she sports a two-piece bikini, adorned with a cherry print, by Italian label Fiorucci. ‘The bum is back,’ writes Georgia. Not that it ever went away.
