Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Football! Horror! Mummies! They go together like...well...okay, so they usually don't go together! Good thing Roger McKenzie and Rich Corben didn't know that when they produced "The Mummy's Victory" for Creepy #84 (September 1976)! Dig it, baby!

Black and White Wednesday: "The Pest!" by Hewetson and Corben
HowOOOO's it' goin', Groove-ophiles? Today's black and white monsterpiece was first seen (shambling through) Warren's Eerie #33 (March 1971). Written by "Archaic" Al Hewetson (before he got his "Horror-Mood" gig at Skywald) with art by the great Richard Corben, "The Pest" is gonna grab ya, baby! Dig it!!

Three days left in the...
...so let's do this right!
Here it is, Groove-ophiles! The fearful (and tearful) finale of Richard Corben's Child saga! (Chapter one is here, chapter two is here.) "Childhood's End" was written by Budd Lewis and first appeared in Eerie #58 (May 1974). The following scans come from Comix International #3 (Summer 1975). Get your pitchfork--and tissues!

By popular demand (Biff Demand--the chicks dig 'im!), here's the second chapter of Richard Corben's Child epic! How can one story be both a heart tugger and a heart stopper at the same time? Read "Mind of the Mass" (from Comix International #3, 1975; originally presented in Eerie #58), written by Greg Potter and find out!

Groove's Faves: "Child" by Potter and Corben
It's October! Didja think Ol' Groove was gonna forget about...
No way!
Though it only lasted for three installments (Eerie #'s 57, 58, and 60), Richard Corben's Child (written by Greg Potter and Budd Lewis), is a short series that is still fondly remembered by Warren buffs. This touching and twisted take on the Monster of Frankenstein still grabs Ol' Groove. I mean, how can you not feel for a monster with a child's head/face? Child's innocence reminds me of the Wein/Gerber era Hulk, but set in a darker, more Swamp Thing-like "reality". So poplar was the debut of this feature that it was reprinted in both issues 1 and 4 of Comix International (1975-1976). This set of scans comes from CI #4. Dig it!
