Oscar winner Gwyneth Paltrow has previously promoted grounding, otherwise known as ‘earthing’, claiming it can also combat arthritis and depression.
Yesterday, Miss Harris posted a picture of herself sat barefoot in a London park to Instagram with the caption: ‘Got off the plane and did my two “absolute musts” post flying... an oxygen facial (thank you @elemis !!), and grounding...
‘The best way to get in sync with a new time zone is to whip your shoes and socks off and connect with the earth for a good 20 -45 minutes!! Do that whenever you fly and you won’t get #jetlag !!’

In recent years, there has been a growing movement promoting grounding - the theory that being physically grounded connects people electrically with the Earth and results in numerous health benefits.
It is claimed that wearing modern rubber or plastic soled shoes means we do not have a natural electrical connection to the Earth.
But sleep expert Dr Neil Stanley dismissed Miss Harris’ comments as ‘daft’.

‘It may have some benefit in the sense that the simple advice for jetlag is that if it is light you should stay outside.
‘So going into the park and getting some sunlight will help restore your body clock quicker, but you don’t have to take your shoes and socks off!’
Earlier this year, an article on Miss Paltrow’s wellness and lifestyle website, Goop, claimed walking around barefoot gave ‘access to the abundant supply of free electrons’ which can help to combat ‘everything from inflammation and arthritis to insomnia and depression’.
