Neville insists Manchester City wonderkid Foden is at the wrong club: 'They have a lot of great kids... they should be playing'
Gary Neville believes Phil Foden would benefit more from being at Manchester United, claiming the club's cross-town rivals will stifle his development through a lack of first-team opportunities. Sky Sports pundit Neville has been impressed by Foden during pre-season, with the 17-year-old being hailed for his performance in Manchester City's 2-0 defeat by United in Houston last week. The youngster received the club's man-of-the-match award for his display despite the loss to Jose Mourinho's side at the NRG Stadium in Texas.
Even £70m strikers get an earbashing from Antonio! Morata taught lesson by Conte as he trains with Chelsea squad for first time
Alvaro Morata has taken to the training ground with his new Chelsea team-mates for the first time since completing his club record £70.6million move from Real Madrid and quickly received a talking to from Antonio Conte. The Spain international flew to London to undergo a medical and put pen-to-paper on a five-year deal before travelling to Singapore ahead of Chelsea's arrival as part of their pre-season tour. Having made the journey from Beijing on Saturday, Conte's men were finally able to introduce themselves to their new star and wasted no time in introducing him to the fold with the Italian manager in particular having a word with his new recruit.
Hazard's back: Chelsea star steps up rehab from broken ankle by training alone
Eden Hazard has taken a significant step in his recovery from injury after partaking in his first work with a football since suffering a broken ankle in June. He posted a video of the momentous moment to his Instagram followers on Sunday evening complete with the caption: 'The recovery continues...' Hazard would have been beaming from ear-to-ear after completing some basic passing drills as part of what is expected to be two more months of rehabilitation before he returns to full fitness.
£133m for three FULL BACKS: Manchester City confirm arrival of Danilo from Real Madrid in £27m deal to continue eye-watering summer spree... and £52m Mendy is on his way from Monaco next
Manchester City have completed a £27million deal for Real Madrid's Danilo, with the Brazil right-back claiming it has always been his ambition to work under manager Pep Guardiola. The 26-year-old has signed a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium and will now join his new new team-mates on the club's pre-season tour of America.
Next stop City: Mendy posts snap of him jetting out to LA ahead of his medical
Manchester City target Benjamin Mendy is on his way to America to to have a medical and join up with his new team-mates after Monaco accepted a £52million bid - after posting a snap of himself jetting out. City have been longtime admirers of the 23-year-old left-back, and judging by his Instagram post may finally be landing their man.
Nervous England post 228 as India bowlers seize control of Women's World Cup final
PAUL NEWMAN AT LORD'S: England produced an at times nervous display with the bat in front of a packed Lord’s in the women’s World Cup final today to leave India with high hopes of winning the trophy for the first time. The hosts could only muster an under par 228 for seven in what has been billed as the biggest match in women’s cricket history to leave India as favourites to confirm their ‘arrival’ at the top of the female game by winning the World Cup.
ANTONIO CONTE INTERVIEW: Chelsea manager reveals how close he came to quitting... and why he's happy despite missing out on Lukaku
ROB DRAPER IN BEIJING: It is almost two months since Antonio Conte disappeared off into the sunset, with the Premier League title won. Since then, much has occurred to worry Chelsea fans: a fall-out with leading scorer Diego Costa, doubts over signing a renewed contract which — when it came — was merely an improvement in salary rather than an actual extension; whispers of frustration over recruitment, especially when Romelu Lukaku ended up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.
Who needs new signings? Kane returns to help Tottenham claim big scalp of PSG as Pochettino's men conjure Orlando magic
TOTTENHAM 4-2 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - JACK GAUGHAN AT THE CAMPING WORLD STADIUM: Twenty seconds of pre-season is all Harry Kane needed to show this campaign will be no different for him. A menace, he had Kevin Trapp, well, trapped, in No Man’s Land. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper rushed out to clear a punt forward, Kane’s closing was too quick and he handled outside the box, suffering the indignity of seeing red in a friendly just after half-time.
Millennium baby Oakley-Boothe makes history for Spurs but Alves feels Miami heat after snubbing City for PSG move
FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED - JACK GAUAGHAN IN ORLANDO: Tottenham got their pre-season off to a flying start with victory over 10-man Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain. Christian Eriksen, Eric Dier, Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane were on the scoresheet for Spurs, with Edinson Cavani and Javier Pastore netting for PSG, while goalkeeper Kevin Trapp was sent off.
Neymar responds to talk of £196m PSG move with deadly double to down Juventus
JUVENTUS 1-2 BARCELONA: Neymar's future at Barcelona has dominated the headlines in the Spanish and global press this past week. If there was anything to suggest that he isn't easily distracted by transfer gossip then his opener against Juventus in New York told the story fairly well. Paris Saint-Germain seem to be the favourites to occupy his services if they can meet his ridiculous release clause which is believed to be above £196million.
'I am extremely happy to be here': Kolarov unveiled after sealing £4.5m Roma switch from Manchester City
Roma have confirmed the arrival of Aleksandar Kolarov in a €5million (£4.5m) deal from Manchester City to bring an end to a seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium. The 31-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with last season's Serie A runners-up and declared his intention to help the club go one better next season. He told their official website: 'I am extremely happy to be here. I will give 100 per cent and more for Roma. My objective is always the same: to win.'
Bayern stars touch down in Singapore ahead of Chelsea clash as Ancelotti looks for response after crushing AC Milan defeat
Bayern Munich have arrived in Singapore for their third and final destination of their Audi Summer Tour, and the Bundesliga side will hope to end their time in Asia on a high note. The Bundesliga club are smarting from a heavy 4-0 defeat by AC Milan in Shenzen on Saturday, and face Chelsea next in the International Champions Cup on Tuesday before taking on Inter Milan on July 27. 'We're itching for the next match and putting the defeat to AC Milan behind us,' said Thomas Muller upon arrival after the below-par performance against the Italians was ruthlessly punished.
West Ham unveil Arnautovic after forward seals £24m move from Stoke
West Ham have officially unveiled the signing of Marko Arnautovic after completing the formalities on his £24million move from Stoke. The Hammers took to their official website and social media channels to show off their latest summer signing, who has put pen to paper on a five-year deal. The 28-year-old posed for pictures in the famous claret shirt of the Hammers and joins the likes of Joe Hart and Pablo Zabaleta as new arrivals at the club.
Chelsea star Pedro insists 'everything is ok' as he sends message to fans from hospital
Chelsea star Pedro reported to hospital following a sickening collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina in Beijing, but has given an update to fans and insisted 'everything is ok.' Early on during Chelsea's pre-season clash with the Gunners in China Pedro went surging through on goal, only to be met by the onrushing Ospina who was committed to getting the ball. The pair came together with a sickening thud which left former Barcelona man Pedro flat on the turf.
Batshuayi brace puts sorry Arsenal to the sword as champions deliver blow ahead of new season with three-goal romp
ROB DRAPER IN BEIJING: Michy Batshuayi did his best to convince Antonio Conte that he need not be quite so desperate to sign another striker, with a fine performance on Chelsea’s opening match of their pre-season Asian tour in Beijing. It may not quite have been intense as the FA Cup final two months ago, nor even as significant as the Community Shield in two weeks time, but Chelsea at least got back on track in terms of dominating Arsenal. And the Belgian striker did all he could to try to convince Conte, who has just signed Alvaro Morata for £70m and wants to bring Fernando Llorente to the club, that he ought to be part of his plans for the season.
LATEST FROM THE OPEN AT ROYAL BIRKDALE
Best putt of The Open? Johnson turns on the style by sinking incredible 65-foot effort
Zach Johnson has turned on the style for the final day of the Open, sinking a huge 65ft putt for a birdie in front of the masses out on the eighth hole. Johnson found himself at the very back of a sloping green following a tough approach shot from the fairway of the 458-yard, par four, with few spectators in the crowd having much faith he would sink the effort. Rather than lay up the shot for a simple par finish on the eighth, Johnson turned on the style and measured the green perfectly.
Grace breaks major record with 62 at Royal Birkdale - and here's how he did it
DEREK LAWRENSON AT ROYAL BIRKDALE: A significant milestone in the history of the game was shattered on Saturday by a South African who had no idea of the enormity of his achievement. Would Branden Grace have been able to pull the putter back if he knew all about the incredible history regarding the record score of 63 for all four major championships? As it was, he putted up from the back of the 18th green and then holed from 4ft for the first round of 62. 'I just thought I'd shot a great round,' said Grace. 'You've just shot golf history,' said his caddy, Zach Rasego. Johnny Miller shot the first 63 in 1973 to win the United States Open and since then there have been no fewer than 30 more, including one by Henrik Stenson to win The Open last year and one by Justin Thomas at the United States Open only last month.
Reborn Rooney hits the target again in another impressive display for Everton
DOMINIC KING IN GENK: There was a high-five from Ronald Koeman and a standing ovation from the away section, who chanted his name in appreciation. But, above all, there was another goal and that is what mattered to Wayne Rooney, whose return to Everton continues to gather momentum. He started slowly, out on the left against Genk, but by the time Koeman ended his afternoon on 73 minutes, the impression was resoundingly positive. It is, of course, dangerous to make predictions at this time of year but little things jumped out here in Belgium – as they did in Holland on Wednesday night – that suggest Rooney is rejuvenated, settled and ready to be a key performer for Everton.
Coutinho stunner seals Liverpool win over Leicester as new boy Salah strikes again
MIKE KEEGAN IN HONG KONG: Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Leicester in Hong Kong, sealing their second win of the summer in the Premier League Asia Trophy in the process. Mohamed Salah again showed why Jurgen Klopp paid a club record £39million to sign him from AS Roma, combining well with Philippe Coutinho at the edge of the Leicester box before heading home a cleverly lofted pass from the Brazilian to equalise. It was Coutinho who would take centre stage just before half-time, letting fly from 20 yards with a stinging shot that flashed past Kasper Schmeichel to give Liverpool the lead going into half-time.
Bonucci makes winning start for AC Milan as Bayern are brushed aside in China
BAYERN MUNICH 0-4 AC MILAN: Leonardo Bonucci made his first appearance in an AC Milan jersey as the Serie A outfit dominated Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup tie in Shenzen. The 30-year-old defender completed his £35million move from their Italian rivals earlier this week and was only able to feature from the bench after flying straight out to meet his new team-mates in China. But by the time he came on the pitch in the 63rd minute, the game had already been sealed after a stunning first-half display that included a goal from new signing Franck Kessie and a brace from youngster Patrick Cutrone.
Bring on Real Madrid! Lukaku sets sights on European champions while his Manchester United pals enjoy some fun in the LA sun
Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has already started to show the signs of a man ready to justify his £75million price tag, but the Belgian wants to show he can produce the goods against the top sides. United are preparing for the fourth game of their US tour against Real Madrid on Sunday, having won all three of their matches so far.

The Premier League returnees handed debuts to new signings Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo off the bench at Preston but, as is ever ever the case in these pre-season affairs, the raft of second half substitutes hampered their momentum.

'Competitive animal' Daley aims for Olympic gold in Tokyo after six near-perfect dives land world title in Budapest
Tom Daley set his sights on the next Olympics in Tokyo after six near-perfect dives secured the men’s 10m platform world title in Budapest. Daley, 23, held his nerve in his final dive to overhaul Chen Aisen, China’s Olympic champion and after earning five 10s from the judges in his final dive, he said: ‘How it all panned out, going into the last round having a five-point lead and then seeing Chen do his dive, I can put to bed Rio now and be like “now I can move on on my journey to Tokyo”. ‘I saw him hit the water and thought “oh, yes, if that’s how you want to play it, I’m here to play, too” .’
Great Britain gold rush as Hahn, Hermitage and Davies lead the way in London
Another Saturday evening at the Olympic Park, another gold rush for Great Britain. Over the course of a thrilling hour, the home crowd celebrated two golds medals on the track, as sprinters Sophie Hahn and Georgie Hermitage led the way, and then Aled Davies reigned supreme in the shot put in the field. All three athletes celebrated double golds after triumphs earlier this week in the London Stadium. Hahn set the ball rolling as she blitzed her field - and rival Brits Kadeena Cox and Olivia Breen - to secure her second gold medal of the World Championships. Adding to her gold in the 200m earlier in the week, Paralympic champion Hahn stormed clear at whirlwind speed to a world record time of 12.44s - improving her previous record of 12.60s.
