The youngster received the club's man-of-the-match award for his display despite the loss to Jose Mourinho's side at the NRG Stadium in Texas.

England win World Cup after dramatic victory over India

PAUL NEWMAN AT LORD'S: England produced an at times nervous display with the bat in front of a packed Lord’s in the women’s World Cup final today to leave India with high hopes of winning the trophy for the first time. The hosts could only muster an under par 228 for seven in what has been billed as the biggest match in women’s cricket history to leave India as favourites to confirm their ‘arrival’ at the top of the female game by winning the World Cup.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte rebooted ahead of new season

ROB DRAPER IN BEIJING: It is almost two months since Antonio Conte disappeared off into the sunset, with the Premier League title won. Since then, much has occurred to worry Chelsea fans: a fall-out with leading scorer Diego Costa, doubts over signing a renewed contract which — when it came — was merely an improvement in salary rather than an actual extension; whispers of frustration over recruitment, especially when Romelu Lukaku ended up with Jose Mourinho at Manchester United.

Chelsea have confirmed that winger Pedro will return home from the club's pre-season tour of Asia after suffering from concussion in the 3-0 victory over Arsenal on Saturday in Beijing.

Tottenham 4-2 Paris Saint-Germain: Match report

TOTTENHAM 4-2 PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN - JACK GAUGHAN AT THE CAMPING WORLD STADIUM: Twenty seconds of pre-season is all Harry Kane needed to show this campaign will be no different for him. A menace, he had Kevin Trapp, well, trapped, in No Man’s Land. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper rushed out to clear a punt forward, Kane’s closing was too quick and he handled outside the box, suffering the indignity of seeing red in a friendly just after half-time.

Tottenham 4-2 PSG - FIVE THINGS WE LEARNED from Orlando

Juventus 1-2 Barcelona: Neymar puts in outstanding display

JUVENTUS 1-2 BARCELONA: Neymar's future at Barcelona has dominated the headlines in the Spanish and global press this past week. If there was anything to suggest that he isn't easily distracted by transfer gossip then his opener against Juventus in New York told the story fairly well. Paris Saint-Germain seem to be the favourites to occupy his services if they can meet his ridiculous release clause which is believed to be above £196million.

Roma confirm arrival of Man City star Aleksandar Kolarov

Roma have confirmed the arrival of Aleksandar Kolarov in a €5million (£4.5m) deal from Manchester City to bring an end to a seven-year stay at the Etihad Stadium. He told their official website: 'I am extremely happy to be here. I will give 100 per cent and more for Roma. My objective is always the same: to win.'

Chelsea star Pedro reported to hospital following a sickening collision with Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina in Beijing, but has given an update to fans and insisted 'everything is ok.'  Early on during Chelsea's pre-season clash with the Gunners in China Pedro went surging through on goal, only to be met by the onrushing Ospina who was committed to getting the ball. The pair came together with a sickening thud which left former Barcelona man Pedro flat on the turf.

Arsenal 0-3 Chelsea: Michy Batshuayi bags sublime brace

ROB DRAPER IN BEIJING: Michy Batshuayi did his best to convince Antonio Conte that he need not be quite so desperate to sign another striker, with a fine performance on Chelsea’s opening match of their pre-season Asian tour in Beijing. It may not quite have been intense as the FA Cup final two months ago, nor even as significant as the Community Shield in two weeks time, but Chelsea at least got back on track in terms of dominating Arsenal. And the Belgian striker did all he could to try to convince Conte, who has just signed Alvaro Morata for £70m and wants to bring Fernando Llorente to the club, that he ought to be part of his plans for the season.

Roman Abramovich has cleared the way for Nemanja Matic to join Manchester United but Chelsea will add what has been dubbed a ‘Lukaku tax’ to any transfer fee.

Best putt of The Open? Johnson turns on the style by sinking incredible 65-foot effort

Zach Johnson has turned on the style for the final day of the Open, sinking a huge 65ft putt for a birdie in front of the masses out on the eighth hole. Johnson found himself at the very back of a sloping green following a tough approach shot from the fairway of the 458-yard, par four, with few spectators in the crowd having much faith he would sink the effort. Rather than lay up the shot for a simple par finish on the eighth, Johnson turned on the style and measured the green perfectly.

Branden Grace shoots record eight-under par 62

DEREK LAWRENSON AT ROYAL BIRKDALE: A significant milestone in the history of the game was shattered on Saturday by a South African who had no idea of the enormity of his achievement. Would Branden Grace have been able to pull the putter back if he knew all about the incredible history regarding the record score of 63 for all four major championships? As it was, he putted up from the back of the 18th green and then holed from 4ft for the first round of 62. 'I just thought I'd shot a great round,' said Grace. 'You've just shot golf history,' said his caddy, Zach Rasego. Johnny Miller shot the first 63 in 1973 to win the United States Open and since then there have been no fewer than 30 more, including one by Henrik Stenson to win The Open last year and one by Justin Thomas at the United States Open only last month.

On a day when Branden Grace scorched a fiery trail around Birkdale with a record-breaking 62 and big players were going low, Ian Poulter was gripped by inertia.

While some of golf's top stars have faltered, Texan-born Connelly, 20, goes into the final round in joint third place on his Major debut. Connelly only qualified by winning a play-off.

The world's greatest golf tournament is played at Royal Birkdale this week when all eyes will be on the 146th Open Championship. Here's all you need to know about the layout.

Genk 1-1 Everton: Wayne Rooney goal seals impressive draw

DOMINIC KING IN GENK: There was a high-five from Ronald Koeman and a standing ovation from the away section, who chanted his name in appreciation. But, above all, there was another goal and that is what mattered to Wayne Rooney, whose return to Everton continues to gather momentum. He started slowly, out on the left against Genk, but by the time Koeman ended his afternoon on 73 minutes, the impression was resoundingly positive. It is, of course, dangerous to make predictions at this time of year but little things jumped out here in Belgium – as they did in Holland on Wednesday night – that suggest Rooney is rejuvenated, settled and ready to be a key performer for Everton.

Liverpool 2-1 Leicester: Mo Salah scores again

MIKE KEEGAN IN HONG KONG: Liverpool came from a goal down to beat Leicester in Hong Kong, sealing their second win of the summer in the Premier League Asia Trophy in the process. Mohamed Salah again showed why Jurgen Klopp paid a club record £39million to sign him from AS Roma, combining well with Philippe Coutinho at the edge of the Leicester box before heading home a cleverly lofted pass from the Brazilian to equalise. It was Coutinho who would take centre stage just before half-time, letting fly from 20 yards with a stinging shot that flashed past Kasper Schmeichel to give Liverpool the lead going into half-time.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane says the club are 'lacking a striker' following Alvaro Morata's move to Chelsea, while also admitting his appreciation of the in-demand Kylian Mbappe.

Expected to sit behind Maarten Stekelenburg, the 28-year-old has been earmarked as a possible replacement for the now third-choice Joel Robles, who is discussing a move to Deportivo La Coruna.

West Ham are discussing a move for Badou N'Diaye amid concerns over Cheikhou Kouyate's injury as he'll miss the first three games of the season after injuring his knee during the club's trip to Austria.

CHRIS WHEELER IN LOS ANGELES: Real continue to circle De Gea as the two clubs prepare to meet twice in 18 days, starting with Sunday's International Champions Cup game in Santa Clara.

Bayern Munich 0-4 AC Milan: Leonardo Bonucci makes debut

BAYERN MUNICH 0-4 AC MILAN: Leonardo Bonucci made his first appearance in an AC Milan jersey as the Serie A outfit dominated Bayern Munich in the International Champions Cup tie in Shenzen. The 30-year-old defender completed his £35million move from their Italian rivals earlier this week and was only able to feature from the bench after flying straight out to meet his new team-mates in China. But by the time he came on the pitch in the 63rd minute, the game had already been sealed after a stunning first-half display that included a goal from new signing Franck Kessie and a brace from youngster Patrick Cutrone.

Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku targets further improvement

Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has already started to show the signs of a man ready to justify his £75million price tag, but the Belgian wants to show he can produce the goods against the top sides. United are preparing for the fourth game of their US tour against Real Madrid on Sunday, having won all three of their matches so far.

We have to hold our hands up and say we just didn't get it right at Trent Bridge. South Africa played brilliantly, but we should have done better, especially after Lord's.

If Plan A is to win the third Test against South Africa, then Plan B is to convince both themselves and the Australians that the team which appears at the Gabba on November 23 is capable retaining the urn.

Steve Smith is due to lead his side in the first Test against England in November but ACA chief Alistair Nicholson on Saturday emailed players warning the series is under threat.

England Women's Demi Stokes won war of sexes to make it

OLIVER TODD IN BREDA: While others simply have their parents, siblings or other family members flying to Holland, the Manchester City left-back has the man who first got her into football — her primary school teacher — as well. Ian Williamson taught Stokes from the age of 10 at Marine Park primary school in South Shields, where she developed the battling qualities that have made England so organised down the left flank.

Preston North End 1-1 Newcastle: Match report

Rafa Benitez's side had the better of the chances and could have beaten Preston but in the end saw Aleksandar Mitrovic's early strike pegged back by Tom Barkhuizen, eventually settling for a draw. The Premier League returnees handed debuts to new signings Jacob Murphy and Javier Manquillo off the bench at Preston but, as is ever ever the case in these pre-season affairs, the raft of second half substitutes hampered their momentum.

Chelsea's Kurt Zouma seals Stoke loan switch

The 22-year-old centre back has made 71 appearances for the Blues since joining from St Etienne in 2014, but suffered a serious knee injury in February 2016, halting his progress.
