'We're not worried about the distance': Emotional Montana Brown and Alex Beattie become the next couple to be booted off Love Island... just ONE day before the final

They may have come in joint winners of tonight's penultimate couples challenge.

Yet, Love Island's Montana Brown and Alex Beattie narrowly missed out on making Monday night's final after they were dumped by viewers on Sunday night's installment of the ITV2 reality favourite.

The couple - who had been hot favourites to win before their comments on Gabby and Marcel turned viewers opinions - appeared in shock as they're names were announced as the next dynamic duo to leave.

While Chris and Olivia were the first couple to be announced to go through to the final and then Kem and Amber second, it left three worried couples contemplating their survival at the Hidden Hills villa as host Caroline Flack delivered the news.

Saved by the public first, Camilla and Jamie shared a sweet kiss as they came to terms with their positive fate.

Looking teary-eyed, Gabby shuddered as tension built before the announcement of the final couple through was confirmed.

Speaking as they exited the villa, the couple insisted they despite living in separate parts of the country, they'll make their romance go the distance.

Montana divulged: 'We are comfortable in our relationship, we’re not worried about the distance, we’ll make it work. Georgia and I have planned some girly road trips up to the north to see Sam and Alex.'

While they admitted to being excited to see how their relationship will fare as they go back to the UK following the show.

Alex said: 'I’m excited and ready to experience outside life and see how far we can go together.'

Montana added: 'It’s been so much more than I expected. Everyone’s feelings are genuine, I’ve made life long friends, I’ve had the best time.'

Their exit comes as the Love Islanders were left red-faced when their parents arrive in the villa on Sunday and they realise what their families have been watching all along.

Ahead of Monday's final, ITV2 viewers will be in for a treat as Kem and Chris get the chance to meet their in-laws - without so much as a shirt or shoes on - while Montana gets insistently scorned by her mother for fornicating on TV.

The reunions, though emotional, were tainted by the elephant in the room, which was obviously their sexual liaisons on screen.

All couples have now sealed their romances within the villa, and it hadn't escaped the attention of their parents.

Naturally, Chris and Olivia are apprehensive about meeting each other's families whilst Kem questions how he should style his hair to meet Amber's dad.

Close couple Kem and Amber find themselves sandwiched between her mum and dad, and his mum and brother, during the episode.

Luckily, Kem gets Amber's dad approval, when he tells her: 'I absolutely love him, he is amazing. The whole of Wales has been absolutely rooting for you.'

Pushed on his true feelings for Amber, Kem confesses: 'I genuinely do think I'm in love with her.'

Kem's mum says: 'When I see her with you and how happy you are, as a mother that just makes me so happy.'

The talk of weddings even arises, when Kem's brother ribs him about his best man, reinforcing the idea that these could be the 'future' in-laws.

Sex is the hot topic when it comes to the couple's surprise run-in and Amber's mum and dad seem ready for the talk.

Amber says: 'You said to me, the two things you can't do are smoke and have sex and I did it in the first week. I was just thinking, "They are going to kill me."

She backs it up by saying: 'When you fancy someone and it's the early time of a relationship it's natural.'

Ambers mum tells her: 'Of course it is, I wasn't bothered about the sex.'

It was a different story for sheepish Montana, who is told by her mother: 'You didn’t try that hard did you!' when it came to her promise not to have sex on TV.

Previously, Montana had said how nervous she was that Alex's mum had seen the couple having sex on TV.

Her fears are realised when Alex's mum drops a subtle reminder that she's been tuning in, hinting: 'Just remember there are cameras all of the time!'

Meanwhile, for Chris and Olivia, the blonde admits that her arguments with Chris made her more nervous about coming face to face with a potential mother in law.

'We've been through it,' she said. 'And I've shouted and sworn at her son and vice versa so I was thinking they might hate me.'

Perfect gentleman Jamie admits that he had 'wants to do well' by Camilla when he is introduced to her parents.

Later in the Beach Hut, he says: 'It was really weird meeting Cam's parents.

'It's their daughter and you want to do right by the daughter and you want to make sure you are looking after her. I just hope that they liked me.'

Though it's not all fun and games for the islanders because the end of the episode is tainted by the elimination of yet another couple.

Caroline Flack enters to tell the villa: 'Islanders, last night you were all asked to secretly choose one couple who you thought should be dumped from the Island.

'Your votes put three couples at risk, which means two couples are definitely safe and through to the Love Island final.'
