Sports fans may have enjoyed a glimpse at the future of British cycling after Chris Froome's wife posted adorable photos of the couple's son in his father's riding kit.

Froome, 32, created history by becoming the first Briton to win the Tour de France for the fourth time, as he crossed the line in Paris on Sunday.

He celebrated winning the world's most prestigious bike race by sharing a passionate kiss with his wife Michelle and took his toddler, Kellan, up on the winner's podium.

But while the nation celebrates his magnificent achievement, it looks like we may not have to wait too long for the next Froome cycling champion.

Michelle shared cute photos of Kellan on her Instagram page, donning a child-sized replica of his father's iconic Team Sky uniform, while perching on a tiny bike.

The proud mother wrote in the caption: 'Ready for action! @Teamsky.'

Other snaps show the father-and-son's close bond as they enjoy a cuddle on a holiday and take a nap together at their family home.

In another picture Kellan poses for the camera while wearing cycling sunglasses, with Michelle's caption reading: 'He's either really excited about riding his bike like his dad one day, or he's going to be one hell of a party animal.'
