Competition 2017: Open your mind and unfold new ideas
Today the world is more complex than ever before. And it seems more difficult then ever to find the right answers to complex challenges such as immigration, digitization, and globalization. To master the future, people need to be open to new solutions. We need experimentation, curiosity, and the courage to rethink issues. Ideas and innovations are more important than they have ever been for Germany as a location – whether for the economy or for society as a whole.
How can we help create a climate that fosters openness? There are many promising concepts. Social enterprises are investing in projects that benefit society. Companies are hiring employees with migration backgrounds or handicaps. And digital start-ups are developing online platforms that make it easier for citizens to have an impact on political decisions. These are just the first steps; more are needed. For we will only be able to find the right approaches for solving problems in the future if we are open to new ideas.
Fostering curiosity and openness
The “Landmarks in the Land of Ideas” competition 2017 rewards projects that help make society more open. We are looking for ideas that show how curiosity about other people, a thirst for knowledge, and innovative answers can push Germany forward – whether on the part of social enterprises, citizens’ coalitions, or scientific communities.
A first-rate jury will choose the 100 best ideas. We will announce the prizewinners at the end of June 2017.
Coaching for founders
The winners of the competition will receive the attention their projects deserve. The “Germany – Land of Ideas” initiative will help the winners to spotlight their projects through professional public relations work. They will also benefit from the competition network and be supported by experts: within the framework of funding programs, prizewinners can be advised by mentors on how to create a business plan, get financing, or carry out public relations work.
