Police launch probe as six-week-old baby girl dies after being found 'unresponsive' in a north London flat

  • Police are treating the death as 'unexplained' as they continue to investigate

A six-week-old baby girl has tragically died after being found 'unresponsive' in a north London flat this morning.

London Ambulance Service rushed to the flat in Finchley Road, north London, with the first paramedic arriving in under a minute to find the unresponsive infant.

She was rushed to hospital but declared dead less than an hour later.

Police attended in three marked patrol cars but are yet to arrest anybody over the death in Hampstead, an area with an average property price of £1,583,075 - more than double the London average of £594,202.

An urgent investigation into the unexplained death has been launched.

A Met Police spokesperson said: 'Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to reports of an unresponsive baby at an address on Finchley Road, Camden, at 8.22hrs on Tuesday, August 8.

'The child - a six-week-old baby girl - was taken to a north London

hospital where she was pronounced dead at 0900hrs.

'A post-mortem will be arranged in due course.

'Enquiries continue.'
