From Mexico to Italy to Ibiza and back to the States, Gerard Butler has never been too far from the ocean throughout his epic summer vacation.

The actor, 47, looked great as he hit the beach in Malibu on Monday, going shirtless to showcase his buff body as he emerged onto the sand after a swim.

With the Pacific Ocean crashing in the background, the screen hunk enjoyed spending time with a male friend as the sun began to set over the coast.

The 300 star stripped down to long black swim trunks, which clung to his burly frame as he emerged from the water.

Without sunglasses or a hat for protection from the sun, the P.S. I Love You actor squinted as the Californian sun hit his eyes.

Gerard was far from clean-cut, displaying a growing auburn beard to match a scruffy, mustache.

The actor talked shop with a friend for a while before they both cooled off from the summer sun.

Known for his love of surfing, tides were too low for Gerard to paddle out and catch any waves on a surfboard.

The star recently returned from a trip with friends to the 2017 Ischia Global Film & Music Festival in Italy.

Currently filming action-crime drama Den of Thieves with O'Shea Jackson Jr., Gerard is gearing up for a busy year in 2018.

Working alongside legendary actors Ed Harris and Andy Garcia, the actor recently completed filming a sci-fi thriller, Geostorm.

He will also star in two additional thrillers before the year's through, and has already signed on to two films in 2018.

Butler was recently spotted enjoying the ocean in Mexico with on/off girlfriend Morgan Brown.

Gerard and Morgan had been dating on and off since 2014 and were said to be broken up for good in 2016, before being spotted together again earlier this year.

Morgan, an interior designer and former model, was spotted out on a coffee date with actor Liev Schreiber in May.

She was also spotted jetting into Baltimore, Maryland with Gerard on June 15, a little over a month after her coffee date with Liev.
