Robert Pattinson looks typically suave as he emerges from his New York hotel... days after enjoying 'dinner date' with Katy Perry in West Hollywood

He was last seen enjoying dinner with his good friend Katy Perry in West Hollywood.

But Twilight star Robert Pattinson was all alone as he emerged from a New York City hotel on Thursday afternoon.

The British actor, 31, looked typically stylish in a smart two-piece suit as he made his way across the sidewalk, where a car was waiting to whisk him away.

Pattinson added to his sophisticated look with a loose-fitting black and white striped dress shirt, while his eyes remained shielded behind a pair of heavily tinted sunglasses.

Earlier that day the actor looked comparatively relaxed in an unbuttoned shirt and skinny jeans as he made an exit from his upmarket East Village hotel.

Seemingly hoping for a low-key outing, Pattinson completed his look with a jaunty black baseball cap and shades.

His recent appearances come shortly after he was seen dining out with Katy Perry at the Sunset Towers Hotel's rooftop restaurant in Hollywood.

Katy has previously assured fans that their relationship is platonic, telling Elle UK: 'He's my bud, I'm like his big sister.'

Pattinson and singer FKA Twigs - real name Tahliah Barnett - have kept their relationship of three-plus year largely private, but the actor got candid about why they are so private while talking to Howard Stern on his Sirius XM radio show in late July.

He explained: 'For whatever reason with Twilight – I don’t know whether it is a specific thing with the audience – there’s like a crack group of crazies that think every single decision you’re making is either creating some kind of conspiracy…

'So you kind of think, like, to protect it, I want to create a big boundary.'

Continuing to discuss Twigs, he admitted trying to balance what he shares and keeps private as 'one of the most frustrating things in the world.'
