Photographs capture New York from the 1960s to the 1990s

Carole Teller's 'Changing New York' depicts how lower Manhattan drastically changed through the eras. The photos show how the artistic NYC district also held onto certain characteristics no matter the decade. Teller's pictures feature every type of New Yorker, from the homeless to the children, the artists and the men in suits. Manhattan may now be dotted with Soul Cycles and Shake Shacks, luxury apartments and designer boutiques, but the relics of its past have been preserved thanks to Teller and her camera. The artist, who has lived in the East Village since the early 1960's, kept her lens trained on the city as buildings came and went, while others refused to relent. The poignant collection also shows what has been preserved in New York through the decades, from the carts selling shaved ice to the fascination of a crowd with a performer in the middle of Washington Square Park.

The new lawsuit accuses six Richmond police officers of sexually trafficking her, and claims that current Police Chief Allwyn Brown (bottom left) and former Police Chief Chris Magnus (bottom right) failed to put a stop to the alleged malfeasance on the force.

Steve Bannon speaks out about bitter White House divisions

'No administration in history has been so divided among itself about the direction about where it should go,' Bannon told the Washington Post on Saturday, one day after leaving the White House. Bannon said that Trump's base is frustrated by Congressional foot-dragging on his campaign promises, including trade, immigration, and taxes. 'If the Republican Party on Capitol Hill gets behind the president on his plans and not theirs, it will all be sweetness and light, be one big happy family,' Bannon said.

Chief strategist Bannon, 63, helped orchestrate the US President's stunning election victory but was vilified for his extreme opinions. A source said: 'Jared and Ivanka helped push him out. They were concerned about how they were being viewed by the Jewish community.'

Boston braces for rally where activists could clash

President Donald Trump has praised a crowd of 40,000 anti-fascist protesters who marched through the streets of Boston in protest against right-wing activists hosting a 'free speech' rally on Saturday. Some of the counter-protesters clashed with police after the largely peaceful march through the city that ended when the handful of activists who attended the free speech rally left. President Trump tweeted: 'I want to applaud the many protestors in Boston who are speaking out against bigotry and hate. Our country will soon come together as one! 'Our great country has been divided for decades. Sometimes you need protest in order to heal, & we will heal, & be stronger than ever before!' Trump quickly deleted two tweets that misspelled the word heal as 'heel' and an hour earlier he had tweeted to condemn 'anti-police agitators'. But the president's tone was mostly conciliatory after a week of outrage over his response to the violence in Charlottesville last weekend.

Trump misspells 'heal' on Twitter during Boston rally

The president repeated the glaring typo twice in the same tweet on Saturday as he was commenting on a free speech rally in Boston that saw 15,000 anti-fascist protesters. 'Our great country has been divided for decades. Sometimes you need protest in order to heel, & we will heel, & be stronger than ever before!' he wrote. The typo comes a day after Trump Jr misspelled 'friend' on his own personal Twitter. He wrote: 'The most interesting measure of a fried is the difference between their personal text to you and their FB posts'.

Former SeaWorld trainer lifts lid after three whales die

John Hargrove, a SeaWorld expert turned whistleblower, explains the horrific conditions the San Diego park keeps their giant orca whales in, calling what goes on 'an abomination'. In January, an orca called Tilikum, notorious for killing his female trainer, died after a long battle with a lung infection. Then last month, Kyara, a three-month-old orca that was born under the park's now-defunct breeding programme, died from pneumonia. Now it has been announced that Kasatka, too, was put down last Tuesday. At 41, she was half the age she might have lived to in the ocean. In a tear-jerking interview with the Mail On Sunday, Mr Hargove explains that the orcas become violent in captivity, attacking their trainers, and even getting diseases they could never get in the wild, thanks to hours of sitting in their small tanks without enough room to swim. Main, SeaWorld, inset top, Kasatka took the feet of trainer Ken Peters in her jaws and took him to the bottom of the pool and inset bottom, trainer Dawn Brancheau, killed by an orca in 2010.

Evacuation orders affect hundreds in California, Oregon

Evacuation orders affecting hundreds of people were issued in California and Oregon as wildfires neared small towns, including Sisters, Oregon, a prime location for viewing the eclipse. About 600 residents were told to leave Sisters and authorities said Saturday another 1,000 people had been told to be ready to leave if necessary. Sisters is located on the edge of a 70-mile swath of the state where the moon will completely blot out the sun. In another incident in Oregon, two people who have not been identified, died in a small plane crash near where people are gathering to view the eclipse. Jefferson County Sheriff Jim Adkin says the crash started a brushfire on a cliff. Terrifying video reveals why you should never look directly at a solar eclipse: Astronomer uses a pig's eye to show the horrific results of staring at the sun

As people across the US prepare for the solar eclipse on Monday, a terrifying video showing the dangers of looking directly at the sun through a telescope has surfaced. British television presenter and astronomer Mark Thompson made the video, which shows the frightening effects of looking directly at the sun through a telescope lens. It serves as yet another warning to viewers to watch the eclipse with care on Monday. Thompson used a pig's eye to demonstrate the effects because, he said: 'I am not stupid enough to put my own eye to the eyepiece of a telescope lined up on the sun.' After about 20 seconds under the lens of the scope, the eyeball flashes and smoke can be seen coming from it (left). The video then shows the results: the pig's eye has a burn directly on the cornea of the lens (top right). Thompson then dissects the eye to check on damage to the retina. After cutting away to it, he finds a brown patch, which he says could be damage from the sun (bottom right). Scientists have already been warning people to avoid looking directly at the sun during the eclipse and NASA has said the only safe way to look at the uneclipsed or partially eclipsed sun is through special solar filters such as eclipse glasses.

'I don't want to wake up without him next to me': Heartbroken wife of US man killed by Barcelona terrorist reveals he stepped away for bathroom break while at cafe on their honeymoon when he was run down

Heidi Nunes-Tucker, 40, (pictured) has spoken out for the first time since her husband of one year Jared Tucker, 43, (inset right) died in the Barcelona terrorist attack on Thursday. Heidi spoke with NBC News in an interview that aired on Saturday. Heidi and Jared, a father to three teenage daughters and a stepson, were on their first trip to Europe to celebrate their one year wedding anniversary. They had been toasting their year of marriage at a street cafe in the Las Ramblas district just moments before the terror attack in Barcelona on Thursday. Heidi said that no more than a minute after Jared stepped away to find a bathroom, 'all mayhem broke out'. Terrorists responsible killed 14 people and wounded over a hundred after a van plowed through crowds traveling at a rate of up to 60 mph. The 17-year-old Moroccan man operating the vehicle, Moussa Oukabir, was shot dead by police in Cambrils Friday following the event. Jared was the only American fatality in the attack. He was not initially listed as a victim in the hospitals nearby the scene of the attack. He was pronounced dead on Friday, when he and Heidi had planned to jet back home from their first trip to Europe.

The couple shook hand with doctors and nurses in the Mar de Barcelona hospital and spoke to some of the 130 people who were injured in Thursday's atrocity on the Las Ramblas boulevard.

Philip's four-letter fury over Diana: How Duke bellowed at Blair spin doctors 'f*** off' when they pressed for Princes to walk behind mother's funeral cortege

The 'anguished' Duke reportedly told No 10 officials to 'f*** off' after it was suggested the princes should walk behind Diana's coffin - and he was backed by the Queen. The exchange came during a telephone conference call between Buckingham Palace, where Mr Blair's team, including spin doctor Alastair Campbell, had met Royal aides, and Balmoral, where the Queen and Prince Philip were staying with William and Harry. The call, convened by the Lord Chamberlain Lord Airlie, came as the Blair government was accused of taking over the funeral plans.

They were just seven days of late summer. Yet the week Diana died was one which changed our country, minute by heart-breaking minute. Pictured: The princess with her lover hours before her death.
