In a tense argument, Jillian Michaels was filmed holding her ground with a yacht crew who demanded more money because the 'mafia in Capri' had depleted their fuel money, despite already paying them $60,000 to sail the Amalfi Coast.

Michaels said she feared for her safety after chartering a pricey yacht to cruise around the Italian coast for 12 days, only to be 'held hostage' for more money. 

The Biggest Loser star said she booked a luxury boat online but later came to learn that the boat was filthy, had no hot water or wi-fi and had electrical problems.

The 43-year-old trainer said the crew then demanded extra money for fuel on the third day of the trip because the gas cash had been drained by mobsters in Capri.

In footage sent to the DailyMail.com, Michaels is seen arguing with a crew member as she insists for the interaction to be filmed and claims she is being scammed and held hostage.

Michaels added in a separate clip: 'You are essentially holding us hostage on the boat. You won't let us down, you won't let us go to dinner. 

'I'm asking you for the 50th time, what do you need the money for?' 

Michaels left for the trip on Tuesday, got off the boat on Saturday and is currently spending the rest of her time in a hotel.

The trainer took the vacation with friends, family members and her daughter, after finding pictures of the boat online and booking it through an online company.

Speaking to the DailyMail.com, Michaels said in an email: 'We are doing ok. Feeling really grateful to have our loved ones and health.

'I haven’t left the country yet and I am truly unclear of how far these individuals will go as I was physically intimidated and threatened in emails.' 

Michaels said she booked the Never One yacht through a company called CharterWorld LLP and was aided by a broker named Amanda Brilliante. 

The fitness guru said by the third day of the trip, she was being asked to fork over 6,000 euros to continue on, after paying nearly $60,000 up front for the yacht.

The crew refused to take them to shore unless she paid the extra money, claiming they needed the money for fuel, according to Michaels.

Brilliante, the yacht broker, said in an email that 'Capri is like mafia in particular', adding a winking face.

Michaels' team also claims that Brilliante later explained that the money for was gone because of 'mafia in Capri'.

Michaels said the crew told her they had burned through more than half of the fuel by the third day of the 12-day trip and by Saturday, the whole tank was empty.

She said they went no more than 70 nautical miles and docked for four nights. 

Michaels is currently in a hotel and attempted to contact the FBI and the State Department, out of fear of her safety, but had no luck. 

The money demand was the second incident of Michaels' yacht trip, beginning with the boat looking nothing like the photos that she saw online.

Michaels also shared details of the harrowing experience on her Facebook page and wrote: 'Things became so escalated we literally feared for our safety.' 

She added: 'The boat was shown in pictures as pristine. It was not only filthy, but it had no hot water, no air con when not docked, no wifi, partial electricity, it was clearly in total disrepair.'

She continued: 'By the third day of our charter we were being extorted for money and things became so escalated we literally feared for our safety.

'Bottom line - this stuff is no joke. You could lose a lot of money and that sucks, but in some instances there is real danger. Be so so careful when dealing with rentals.'

When she initially complained about the condition of the boat, she was credited 6,700 euros, according to TMZ. 

Michaels used her harrowing experience to warn her followers to be wary of booking things online and said this was the third time she was 'scammed'.

The fitness guru uploaded several photos of what she said her luxury yacht looked like when she arrived.

Michaels shared the photos to warn her followers about online scams and shared tips on what they could do to protect themselves from being victims of such circumstances 

Michaels signed off on the post by telling her followers what they could do to protect themselves from being victims of scams.

She wrote: 'Beware... You guys know I keep my social pretty straight forward. Fun memes, nutrition tips, fitness videos etc. But I feel compelled to ask you all to be VERY CAREFUL with any holiday rentals you book on line. 

 'You could lose a lot of money and that sucks, but in some instances there is real danger. Be so so careful when dealing with rentals.

'Ultimately, at the end of the day it's just money. Don't put yourself in harms way. If you start to sense real danger leave the situation immediately and if you are out of the country contact your embassy. 

'They have a fraud investigator apparently and can help you. BE SAFE PLEASE AND ALWAYS TAKE PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FAMILY.'
