His biographer has suggested that a severe car accident in 1974, which resulted in Spector getting hundreds of stitches in his head and face, led to the wig habit.
Now, the jailhouse photo snapped last month shows the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee completely bald.
Records show that Spector is being held in the California Health Care Facility in Stockton, a medical care and mental health facility.
Prison officials have not revealed any details about Spector's health.Â
Known as the 'Tycoon of Teen', Spector was a pop music mastermind whose career spanned five decades.Â
He worked with such acts as the Ramones, John Lennon, and George Harrison.
In 2003, he met 40-year-old actress Lana Clarkson at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and took her home to his mansion.
She was fatally shot inside, and Spector claimed that she had accidentally shot herself.
However he was convicted on second-degree murder in a 2009 re-trial, after the first trial ended in a hung jury.Â
