'You numpty!' Caitriona Balfe trolls on-screen husband Sam Heughan after he accidentally shares Outlander spoiler on Twitter

They play on-screen partners Claire Beauchamp Randall/Fraser and Jamie MacKenzie Fraser on hit time travel series Outlander.

And Caitriona Balfe, 37, proved her relationship with Sam Heughan, 36, is just as fun off-screen, as she took to Twitter to tease her co-star.

After he accidentally shared- before deleting- a spoiler, she took to Twitter to give him a roasting.

'Sorry for the spoiler you guys!!! Mistakenly saw post that wasn't official + reposted, I apologize. [Love] you all!' an embarrassed Sam tweeted after he deleted the spoiler tweet.

But Caitriona didn't let his mistake slide, tweeting cheekily: 'Hey @SamHeughan …… Numpty !!!!'

Returning the sass, Sam replied, 'Actually, think you'll find Starz posted first!#StillANumpty.'

Sam's dashing star's character, rebel Highlander Jamie Fraser, and his love interest Claire (Caitriona) are meant to be 20 years older in the new series.

Last year the pair regularly denied they were a real-life item, with Sam telling the Radio Times: 'It was a weird one, we were asked in an interview and we were honest about it.

'I really sort of felt we shouldn't really discuss it,having said that, I guess we're aware of it, and we're aware that some fans were upset, they felt they'd been duped or something, which is really strange because we're just doing our job.'

'I think if me and Caitriona were together we wouldn't say. Why would you?

'In this industry we give away so much of ourselves anyway. We talk about ourselves and we tell people stuff.

'I guess it's nice that we've done our job well enough to convince them,' he added.
