SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Abba girls' party night: Lily James attends stage version of Mamma Mia! as she gets ready to star in new film next year

Lily James is having a ball researching her role for the new Mamma Mia! film, out next summer.

The 28-year-old Cinderella star, who plays the younger version of Meryl Streep's character Donna, attended the West End stage version on Tuesday.

There, she chatted to the show's producer, Judy Craymer, and Georgina Castle, the 24-year-old daughter of BBC sports presenter Andrew Castle, who plays Sophie on stage.

Georgina shared this picture online, giving her seal of approval: 'Lily is going to be absolute perfection as Donna!'

Just days ago, Baroness Brady was named the new chairwoman of the company behind Sir Philip Green's retail empire.

Now her glamorous daughter Sophia has been handed her first modelling job — by Topshop, which is owned by the billionaire's wife.

Brady, 48, the West Ham United CEO and star of the TV series The Apprentice, disclosed the news yesterday when she proudly posted a photo of her daughter's debut fashion advert on social media.

In the picture, which was also shared by Topshop with its nine million followers on Instagram, 21-year-old Sophia, whose head is not visible in the shot, sports the brand's denim skirt, boots and pink fluffy handbag. 'So proud of my daughter Sophia modelling for Topshop on Instagram. She looks amazing!' gushed Brady, who quickly felt compelled to defend herself against accusations of nepotism online.

When one sceptic asked tongue-in-cheek: 'I wonder how she got the job?', Brady replied: 'What a horrible thing to imply. She got it on merit because she is gorgeous and fabulous but mostly because she deserved it.'

But it's not surprising that the casting of Sophia, whose father is Brady's husband, former footballer Paul Peschisolido, has raised eyebrows as she is only 5ft 3in — falling far short of typical model height requirements.

When it comes to self-promotion, however, she seems to be a natural. Her social media is bursting with provocative selfies including this one, above, of her in a white two-piece bandeau bikini while her brunette hair cascades to her waist.

She has just finished studying film and television at Nottingham University and, having previously had a Saturday job at retail outlet Hollister, has now secured a job as social media assistant at Topshop.

Last month, it was announced that Brady, who also has a 19-year-old son, Paolo, was replacing Lord Grabiner as the chair of Taveta Investments — the parent group of Arcadia, which owns Topshop.

Two weeks before, she was luxuriating on Green's £115 million superyacht, Lionheart, in Monaco, with her husband, Green and wife Tina.

Dame Kristin Scott Thomas was nominated for an Oscar for the English Patient, but she finds film awards off-putting. 'It's the campaigning I find quite distasteful, being English,' she says.

'To begin with, I was really excited and flattered — and then I realised that I got really sick of it. Basically, I just felt like a billboard. I was so naïve. I realised how much wheeling and dealing was going on.'

Mandy heads high-tech £100m cyber security firm

Arch Europhile Peter Mandelson has landed a cushy new job — as the boss of a £100 million cyber-security company.

Mandelson has revealed in the Register of Lords Interests that he has been appointed as the European chairman of BlueteamGlobal. The entry says Mandy will 'work with an operational team of former European cyber-intelligence professionals'.

BlueteamGlobal was co-founded by Jim Rosenthal, former chief operating officer at Morgan Stanley, the American financial services giant which employed Lord Mandelson's former boss Tony Blair as a senior adviser.

Intriguingly, Mandy warned of dire consequences for trade with China last year if Britain pulled out of the Hinkley Point nuclear power project over fears that Chinese involvement might pose a security threat. No danger of that with the Prince of Darkness watching over our cyber-borders.
