Residents in Cotswolds village have DNA from 18 places

Residents of Bledington, Gloucestershire, were shocked to find they had DNA from 18 different places in the world, after testing was done by AncestryDNA on 120 of the villagers. The study is the first of its kind to analyse the make-up of a whole village and the samples found that people on average had less than 50 per cent of their DNA from Great Britain. Others even found out they were related to each other, as third or fourth cousins. Circled, Ann Newton, who found out she was only 37 per cent British and 35 per cent of her genetic make-up was from Europe West. 700,000 contaminated eggs from Dutch farms are in the UK

Thousands of salads and sandwiches are being taken off store shelves in a tainted eggs scare. Four big supermarkets are withdrawing the products on the orders of the Food Standards Agency. The watchdog had claimed only 21,000 of the danger eggs had been imported from Europe. It insisted there was no health risk and refused to name the affected retailers. Yesterday however it admitted the true figure was much higher - potentially 700,000 - and confirmed the eggs had been used by Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and Asda. Contaminated with pesticide, the eggs went to factories making sandwich fillings, sandwiches, salad bowls and pots containing boiled eggs. Ian Jones, chairman of British Lion eggs, said: 'The major retailers are operating to double standards when it comes to eggs.' Inset, Mr Jones, bottom right and left, examples of the thousands of egg products that are being taken off shelves by leading supermarkets.

Olivia Fane: No child can love mother way she loves them

I'm preparing for my two youngest sons to leave home next month. Nineteen-year-old Oscar will be heading west, without a backwards glance, to Bristol University. Joe, 22, will be nonchalantly disappearing up the M1 to live and work 200 miles away in Leeds. Children simply don't realise how loved they are. This is a painful fact of which I am fast becoming aware. Perhaps they have to wait until they are parents themselves, with their own children to love. Then they will understand. Why Kavos is calling time on British louts

Kavos, on the southern tip of Corfu, is well known as a destination for young people wanting to get off their heads - and at rock-bottom prices, with pictures taking in the last week showing tourists, mostly Brits, taking over the main strip and vomiting in the street. But change is coming to Kavos. Local people - led by an organisation called the Kavos Cultural Association - are leading a backlash against the drunken British youth who now dominate life in the resort. The protest coincides with a crackdown by the police on the town's clubbing culture, with curfews on loud music and time being called on late-night drinking. It's not that the residents of Kavos are against tourism in general - far from it. They hope for the return of an older, quieter form of tourist - Brits with money to spend and a very different idea of nightlife.

The conjoined twin sisters snatched at birth from their mother and subjected to cruel medical 'experiments': One turned into a psychopath, the other a gentle soul who longed for a normal life

They were the world's oldest living conjoined twins at the time of their death in 2003 aged 53. Snatched from their mother following their birth, Masha and Dasha Krivoshlyopova were subjected to a variety of cruel medical 'experiments' by Stalin's Soviet medical authorities. The Russian girls shared a blood system but had separate nervous systems - so were seen as ideal subjects for research. Treated as medical guinea pigs they were burnt, frozen, starved, electrocuted, kept forcibly awake and injected with radioactive and other toxic substances in the name of 'science'. The twins were institutionalised for much of their lives but their horrific story has now been revealed in full for the first time by journalist Juliet Butler who has also spoken to MailOnline. Masha was a cruel, domineering 'psychopath' who was 'emotionally abusive' to her caring, empath sister Dasha who remained gentle and kind and longed for a normal life. When Masha died in 2003, Dasha refused to have surgery to separate her from her sister and subsequently died from blood poisoning from the toxins of her sister's decomposing body

MP Ann Cryer on being branded a racist

Former Labour MP Ann Cryer admits she felt huge frustration after reading of the convictions of 18 people for grooming and rape in Newcastle, because of the reluctance to accept their race.
