A family has filed a $30million lawsuit against a prestigious Tennessee Christian private school alleging that the headmaster told their 12-year-old son to 'turn the other cheek' after claiming he was raped by a group of boys.

The lawsuit, against Brentwood Academy and several administrators at the suburban Nashville school by a mother on behalf of her son, says the sixth-grader was repeatedly assaulted during the 2014-2015 school year by four eighth-grade students.

She said she approached counselors, teachers and headmaster, Curtis G Masters, but they downplayed the incidents and did not report them.

Masters referred to the attacks as 'boys being boys' and told the victim 'everything in God's kingdom happens for a reason the lawsuit obtained by The Tennessean states.

The lawsuit claims that the boy was first assaulted by the 14 and 15-year-old boys when they put their buttocks in his face and 'their scrotums on and/or in his mouth' at a party following a football game.

Other assaults allegedly happened in the school locker room, when the boys allegedly held the doors closed and sexually assaulted the boy.

One of the boys is accused of raping the teen and claiming he 'f***** that boy up the a** and stuck a Gatorade bottle in him'.

'(The boy) would place his penis before John Doe and forcibly penetrated it into the mouth of Plaintiff John Doe without consenting claiming "eat it, eat it, eat it, open your mouth, accept it",' the lawsuit says.

The same boy 'exclaimed about this sexual assault and that he ejaculated on plaintiff John Doe', the lawsuit says. 

The boys accused of sexually assaulting the boy are depicted as bullies in the suit and allegedly abused other students as well.

When the victim's mother learned about the assault, the reported the information to Chris Roberts, a counselor at Daystar Counseling, who told her Christian institutions don't 'handle these things' by reporting them, the lawsuit says.

Masters said in a statement the school cooperated with authorities when notified, and wouldn't comment on active litigation.

'Our highest priority is the safety and protection of our students. We take any allegation involving our students very seriously,' master said in a statement to The Tennessean. 'We responded immediately and fully cooperated with authorities when we became aware of concerns in 2015.'

The 12-year-old boy is no longer a student at Brentwood Academy.

The lawsuit alleges multiple breaches of contract and confidentiality, failure to report child abuse reports, emotional distress, negligence, negligent supervision and invasion of privacy and seeks $30million in damages.

Legal counsel for the victim said that it's a 'sad situation that could have been prevented'.

'The complaint speaks for itself. These allegations are still under investigation by the Brentwood Police Department and the District Attorney's office,' the legal counsel said.

'We hope this will help protect children in private school where Title IX does not apply and citizens will become more aware of Tennessee's Mandatory Report Statute that requires everyone to report child abuse.'
