Jimmy Kimmel has had an emotional few months since his son Billy was born with a heart condition that will require three surgeries.

The late night host, 49, opened up to The Hollywood Reporter about his son and joked about his three-month-old's impressive accomplishments.

Jimmy revealed: 'He's doing great. Young Billy made his first visit to our office today. He's juggling. He's translating Flaubert from French into English. He's really an amazing kid. No — he smiles. That's pretty much it.'

He continued: 'He is very interested in ceiling fans. He likes those a lot. I could get him to pay the same amount for Netflix just to watch ceiling fans.'

Jimmy explained Billy's medical situation during the opening monologue on the May 1 episode of his late-night chat show Jimmy Kimmel Live.

He told THR why he thought it was so important to talk about his son's medical situation, despite it being emotional for him.

'I knew I had to say something, and I knew that I would get emotional. It occurred to me that maybe we could make it into something positive.'

It turned into a political statement on health care, which is exactly what Kimmel intended.

'I had a lot of time to think at the hospital, and it just so happened that our government was deciding whether or not millions of people should have health care at that time. I think it made a big impact on American citizens,' he revealed. 'I'm not sure, based on how our so-called leaders voted, whether it made a big impact on the Senate or House.'

While in the recovery room, 'a very attentive nurse at Cedars-Sinai Hospital - her name is Nanuzh - was checking him out and heard a murmur in his heart, which is common with newborn babies, but she also noticed he was a bit purple, which is not common.

Billy and Jimmy were taken to the neonatal ICU, where it was discovered 'Billy was born with a heart disease, something called tetralogy of Fallot with pulmonary atresia. It's hard to explain. Basically, the pulmonary valve was completely blocked, and he has a hole in the wall between the left and right sides of his heart.'

He also revealed that his son will have to go through more surgeries to fix the problem with his heart:

Billy will 'have to have another open-heart surgery in three to six months to close those holes, but they wanna wait until he's bigger, and then he'll have a third - hopefully non-invasive procedure - sometime maybe in his early teens to replace the valve he has now.'

Jimmy revealed President Obama sent the comedian well wishes after hearing about his son's surgery, but did not hear from President Trump.

'[Obama] sent a very nice letter. He wished us the best and thanked us for speaking. President Clinton sent a letter. President [George W.] Bush sent a very nice letter. A number of congresspeople sent notes.'

He says he hopes to get President Trump on his show to talk about healthcare at some point.

'I would love to talk to him about this. I would like to see, as a father and a person who prides himself on speaking the truth, what he thinks.'

Molly and Jimmy also have a three-year-old daughter named Jane, and Jimmy has two sons by his ex-wife Gina Kimmel: 25-year-old Katie and 23-year-old Kevin.
