Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay packs on PDA with new fiancé Bryan Abasolo and nearly takes tumble...as she hits back at critics who say she 'settled'

Fans took to social media on Monday night to vent their frustrations about Rachel Lindsay's final rose choice on The Bachelorette, with many deeming she had 'settled' for a proposal from Bryan Abasolo.

But Rachel and her new fiance Bryan couldn't have looked anymore in love as they packed on the PDA while stepping out for one of the first times in public as a couple on Tuesday morning.

Luckily the lawyer-turned-reality star, 32, had Bryan by her side as she nearly took a tumble while stepping out of her car in her strappy high heels.

Get wedded vibes like the Bachelorette in a Cinq a Sept dress

Hitting the streets of NYC, Rachel Lindsay looked incredibly chic in a white dress by Cinq à Sept teamed with Stuart Weitzman The Nudist sandals.

Cinq à Sept (which means "five to seven" in French) burst onto the New York fashion scene in 2016 and has been making waves in the industry since. It's mainly thanks to the creative direction of industry stalwart Jane Siskin, who formerly worked at top labels like Elizabeth and James and 7 For All Mankind.

The collection focuses on romantic pieces, with every thing being thoroughly deserving of a place in a modern wardrobe.

We love this timeless white dress spotted on Rachel, especially the flattering fit and flare design. It's currently on sale at Saks Fifth Avenue so click (right) to welcome it to your own wardrobe, or alternatively get the look for less with the similar picks below.

One of the twosome's first stops was at Live With Kelly and Ryan, where Rachel addressed a fan's concern she 'should have chosen true love over the ring.'

Torn between two men, Rachel ended up dramatically breaking up with one of her final two choices - Peter Kraus - after he made it clear he was not yet ready to pop the question to her.

Rachel ended up happily accepting a proposal from Bryan and gave him the final rose.

'We just got this email from one of our viewers,' Ryan said as the couple sat for an interview with him and guest co-host Rita Ora. '"Rachel was clearly in love with Peter,"' he read.

'"Bryan was runner-up. She choose him because he was willing to give her a ring. Peter was realistic. She should have chosen true love over the ring." What do you say to that?'

'It's so funny to me,' Rachel said as she held Bryan's hand. 'I've never been one to settle or to be desperate for anything, that's why I was 32 and still single. So when people say stuff like that, like Bryan was the runner-up, like no. I think you can clearly see that I had a lot of love for Bryan, and that he was the one for me. I never would have just chosen a ring.'

The star also addressed Peter's attempt to reconnect with her after filming ended.

She said she was aware he reached out - but had no interest in speaking with him.

'That was a closed chapter for me,' she explained. 'My focus was Bryan. I choose Bryan for a reason, and I didn't want to re-open things. Peter had his chance!' she said.

The couple said they had no date set in stone for their nuptials, but Rachel said 'winter of next year.'

Rachel also said she would be taking Bryan's last name after tying the knot.

During their appearance on the morning show, Rachel addressed her split from Peter.

'You see the emotional breakup that Peter [Kraus] and I had and he was ready to propose but at that point, I knew that he wasn't the one for me and it was really important for me to not have two men standing up there at the end', she said.

Rachel and Peter said goodbye after a tense discussion about whether or not he would ever get down on one knee.

Peter even offered to propose to appease her, and though she declined the suggestion, he believes she 'made the right decision in the end.'

'It was too little, too later,' he said of the offer of proposal to People. 'She knew that it wasn’t where my heart was at the time. I think we probably would've resented each other for it if she had agreed. I do think she made the right decision in the end.'
