Lakhimpur polytechnic is a technical institution offering 3 years diploma under the Directorate of Technical Education, Assam, established by The Government of Assam in 2017. It is officially approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi and affiliated to State Council for Technical Education, Kahilipara, Guwahati, Assam.
The institute is situated at a rural place near Kherajkhat H. S. School, in the village of Gosaibari, under the revenue circle of Narayanpur and about 8.5 KM from Narayanpur Town, Assam and about 10 KM from Bihpuria, Assam. Geographically these three locations form a triangle when visualized by ariel connection. It is worth mentioning that Lateku Pukhuri, the auspicious birth place of Mahapurush Srimanta Madhadev is situated just 2 KM away from the institute. The Institute has 30 bighas of land and the institute building is being developed by APWD, Govt. of Assam with the financial grant from the Central and State government.
The geographic features of these area is extremely important as it is located at the foothills of Himalayan ranges of Arunachal Pradesh, only about 10 KM radially away from the site. Practically the whole area can be considered as an ecotone transforming hilly ecology to plains ecological conditions. Abundant greenery, heavy rainfall and inundation of cultivation fields every year is a common features of this area. Resource full in fertile land and vegetation, the area needs boost in science and technology for socio-economic transformation. This institution has a great challenge and opportunity to play an important role in this thrust area.
