Four-bedroom suburban family home complete with a swimming pool sells for more than $1MILLION – but can you spot what's wrong with it?

  • A Four-bedroom two-bathroom Melbourne home has sold for just over $1 million with a very quirky feature
  • The Doncaster East-located house boasts a solar-heated pool, large entertaining area and connected BBQ
  • One of the bedrooms has a small tiled area with a toilet and bathroom installation just metres from the bed

For anyone who has ever woken up needing to go to the bathroom in the middle of night but not wanted to make the cold journey to the toilet - this is the home for you.

A sprawling four-bedroom Melbourne home clogged with features, including a large entertaining area and solar-heated pool, sold for over $1 million in April this year.

The Doncaster East-based house does however have one particularly quirky design - one of the bedrooms has a toilet just metres from the bed.

Nelson Alexander Real Estate described the newly-renovated home as 'contemporary class and family flexibility' with an open living plan and a natural light-filled lounge.

With its ducted heating, double carport, gated entry and close proximity to shops, public transport and schools, there's little surprise the home sold for north of a million.

The listing was posted to Reddit, with people more interested in the peculiar toilet placing than the quiet cul de sac.

'For the bargain price of $1,000,000 you too can take a s*** right next to your bed!' the post was titled.

Reddit users saw the funny side of the startling bedroom addition, with many resorting to toilet humour.

'This is why people should stop watching shitty renovation shows,' one person said.

'Who wouldn't want to gas their partner every time they went to the bathroom. I'm sold!' another Reddit user joked.

One person claimed they actually attended the open house in April when it was on the market, but were taken aback by the design choices.

'I went for an inspection a few months ago with the in-laws but the bizarre en-suite turned them off,' they said.

Despite the initially confronting visual of the toilet so close to a bed, the bathroom can be concealed by a series of sliding doors, effectively turning the space into a bedroom with ensuite.
