A United States citizen has been identified as one of the 14 people who died in the Barcelona terror attacks.

US officials are still trying to confirm if there were any additional American victims.

Meanwhile, San Francisco construction worker on an anniversary trip with his wife and a British-born Australian boy accompanying his mother to a wedding are still missing after being separated from their loved ones during the attacks.

Jared Tucker, 43, was exploring the Las Ramblas area of the Spanish city with his wife Heidi Nunez on Thursday when a van gunned through the crowd at the popular tourist destination.

Nunez was pushed into a kiosk during the ensuing pandemonium and when she tried to go look for her husband she was ordered to evacuate the area by authorities as they tried to lock down the crime scene and prevent any additional carnage.

The couple had been enjoying a two-week European vacation prior to the tragic events of Thursday in celebration of their one-year-anniversary.

Julian Cadman, 7,  was separated from his mother Jom when she was injured during the same attack and taken to a hospital, where she is in serious condition.

His father, Andrew, is currently flying from Sydney to Spain to help in the search for his missing son without knowing whether the boy is dead or alive.

Andrew said that he had spoken to the boy and his mother just a few hours before the deadly van attack that separated the pair.

Cadman's family members are now urging anyone with information to get in touch with them, having launched a massive social media campaign in hopes of finding the boy.

Authorities released the names of the first set of victims in the attack on Friday morning.

Belgian mother-of-two Elke Vanbockrijck, 44, Spanish citizen Fransisco Lopez Rodriguez, 57, and Bruno Gulotta and Luca Russo who are both from Italy were the first four victims to be identified on Friday, and the fifth was later revealed to the unnamed American.

TILLERSON ON DEATH OF US CITIZEN

'We offer our thoughts and prayers as they're going to be dealing with a tough few days ahead of them.'

A three-year-old Spanish boy from Llimiana was also allegedly killed in the attack according to the town's mayor, but authorities had not confirmed that report as of early Friday.

Gulotta, a 35-year-old marketing manager for the website Tom's Hardware, was walking through Las Ramblas while holding the hand of his five-year-old son Alexander at the time of the attack on Thursday evening reports La Repubblica.

When he saw the van racing towards his family he tossed his son out of the terrorist-driven vehicle's trajectory while his partner Martina shielded their daughter who she was holding on her chest.

All three were then forced to witness the aftermath of the fatal spree and, which left Gulotta profusely bleeding with his legs splayed out on the pavement.

The family, who hails from the Milanese town of Legnano, was vacationing in Spain at the time of the attacks, like so many of the other victims.

Back home, Legnano Mayor Giambattista Fratus said that the entire city is 'mourning' the loss of Gulotta.

The Italian Foreign Ministry also announced on Friday Luca Russo, 25, was killed on Thursday, while visiting Spain with his fiancee Marta Scomazzon.

Scomazzon was also injured in the attack and is currently recuperating after fracturing her foot and elbow when she attempted to get out of the path of the oncoming van according to La Repubblica.

The couple were volunteers at the local Green Cross and flags have been lowered in the couple's hometown of Bassano del Grappa, where a candlelight vigil is also being planned to honor the young engineer.

Russo was also remembered by his local mayor, with Riccardo Poletto saying on Friday that while he did not know the boy personally everyone spoke about what an exceptional young man he was and how motivated he was to do good.

ISIS have claimed responsibility for the attacks, which are strikingly similar to attacks in London, Berlin, Stockholm and Nice.

Police are also now on the hunt for Europe's most wanted man Moussa Oukabir, the 18-year-old Moroccan-born teenager believed to have been the driver.

His brother's ID was used to rent up to three vans, including the one in the attack, but he has since handed himself into police and denied any involvement

Oukabir fled on foot, but it is unclear if he joined the Cambrils attack which police are now linking to the one in Las Ramblas.

Police believe the terror cell lived in the resort town of Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, where a house-cum-bomb factory packed with gas canisters was destroyed in an explosion on Wednesday killing one man and injuring another.

Catalonia's interior minister, Joaquim Forn, tells Onda Cero radio that the suspects in Cambrils were driving in an Audi 3 and began plowing down people near the boardwalk.

A police car was damaged and an officer was among the six people injured in the second attack.

Forn says the suspects killed in a subsequent shootout with police were wearing fake bomb belts. He says the belts were very well made, and that authorities only determined they were phony after a controlled explosion.

Seven people including a policeman were injured in Cambrils on the Costa Dorada where the Jihadis' Audi A3 car overturned after ploughing through crowds on the seafront.

The terrorists bailed out clutching knives and were seen smiling and shouting taunts at police who shot them dead in the street at around 1am.

Tourists ran for their lives and hid on the beach or in seafront bars as gunshots rang out around them and holidaymaker Fitzroy Davies, from Wolverhampton, described how police gunned down one of the Cambrils attackers but he got up again and started 'ranting and raving'.

He said: 'He must have been on drugs. He was taunting, smiling, laughing and he carried on walking to the police, and then they gave it to him again, a couple more shots and then he fell to the ground'.
