He might be the father of eight children, but Rod Stewart proved there's enough love to go around as he enjoyed a tender moment with his youngest son, Aidan, on Thursday.

The legendary rocker doted on the six-year-old as they indulged in a family day alongside Penny Lancaster in Beverly Hills, California.

Cooling off in the heat, the trio were pictured stopping by a Starbucks, where Aidan was treated to an ice cold beverage.

Rod, 72, looked typically cool for their relaxed day out, with the Maggie May hitmaker donning a crisp linen shirt, white jeans and trendy trainers.

Loose Women host Penny, 46, looked super chic in a billowing pink floral dress, which skimmed her thighs, allowing the beauty to flaunt her enviably long, lean legs.

Little Aidan chanelled his inner sportsman, wearing an adorable football top and shorts combination.

Noticeably absent was the couple's oldest son Alastair, 11.

As well as the two boys he shares with Penny, Rod is also the father of daughter Kimberly, 37, and Sean, 36. Both are from Rod's first marriage to Alana Hamilton.

Kimberley brought another generation into the mix with her daughter Delilah, five, whose father is actor Benicio Del Toro.

The musician also shares children Renee, 25, and Liam, 22, with Australian model Rachel Hunter, who surprisingly boasts an amicable relationship with his wife Penny.

The rocker also has children Sarah, 51, who was put up for adoption, and Ruby, 27, his daughter by model Kelly Emberg.

Meanwhile, yesterday's family outing comes just weeks after Rod and Penny renewed their vows after almost 20 years together.

Speaking about Penny, the singer told Hello!: 'Penny is my whole world, what a girl. Love means many things to many people but to me it’s wanting to share everything with the one you love and I love Penny more now than ever, if that is at all possible.

Discussing the decision to renew their vows with the magazine, the model admitted the ceremony felt more special after ten happy years of marriage.

'Being able to reflect on those ten years and say those words to one another and still know we mean them is important.'

The intimate ceremony had just 100 guests including Rod's former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood and his wife Sally and Penny's former Strictly dance partner Ian Waite.
