Desperate families of those missing after the Spanish terror attacks searched for their loved ones on Friday as the death toll rose to 14 and the first victims were identified.

Seven-year-old Julian Cadman, who was born in Kent but moved to Australia three years ago, was named among the missing by his cousin who posted an appeal online after the boy's mother, Jom, was listed as being in a serious condition in hospital by Spanish authorities.

His father, Andrew, is currently flying from Sydney to Spain to help in the search for his missing son without knowing whether the boy is dead or alive.

Meanwhile Heidi Nunes, 40 from California, also appealed for information about her 42-year-old husband Jared Tucker on Friday after they got separated during the attack. 

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson confirmed the death of one American and said 'we are still in the process of confirming the deaths and injuries of others' without giving further details.

Elsewhere the first of those to be confirmed dead in the ISIS attack on Las Ramblas were named as Italians Bruno Gulotta and Luca Russo, Belgian mother Elke Vanbockrijck, 44, and Spaniard Fransisco Lopez Rodriguez, 57.

A three-year-old boy, believed to be Mr Rodriguez' grand-nephew, also died. He was walking with his mother, grandmother, sister and aunt - who was injured trying to save him.

A 61-year-old woman from Zaragoza who was repeatedly stabbed in the Cambrils attack, which took place in the early hours of Friday, also passed away on Friday, bringing the total killed in both attacks to 14.

Medics said 130 people were injured in both attacks, including 17 in critical condition and 30 in serious condition.

Elke Vanbockrijck, 44, from Belgium, has been identified as being among the dead. Authorities said she was on holiday with her husband and sons when she was run down and killed

Norma, who is Julian's aunt but referred to in the family as granny, described the boy as 'lovely', 'bubbly'  and 'sweet'

UK Prime Minister Theresa May said authorities are 'urgently looking into reports' of a dual-nationality child believed to be missing in Spain, and confirmed that 'a number of British nationals' were caught up in the attack.

Mrs May gave no indication if those Britons were among the wounded or killed. 

A 74-year-old Portuguese woman from Lisbon is also among the dead, national newspaper Journal de Noticitas wrote, while her 20-year-old granddaughter is also missing. 

Mrs Nunes, from Walnut Creek, in California, told NBC she had been touring Europe with husband Jared for two weeks as part of a belated honeymoon their pair had saved for. They were married last year.

The couple had been drinking outside before Mrs Nunes said she wanted to go and look at some jewellery and her husband said he was heading to the bathroom.

Moments later chaos broke out as a van ploughed into crowds and people began screaming and running. Mrs Nunes said she was pushed into a tourist kiosk where she sheltered until the attack was over. She has not seen her husband since, but is aware of an image circulating online that appears to show him badly wounded.  

Mr Gulotta, a computer salesman from Legnano, in northern Italy, was crushed to death in Barcelona as he walked along holding his six-year-old son's hand.

His wife, Martina, said he died kneeling down to shield their son and seven-month-old daughter from the van, according to boss Pino Bruno, who claimed to have spoken with her.

His seven-month-old daughter 'will never know her dad' the family said in an online statement that praised his kindness and described him as a 'generous and heartfelt person'.

Mr Russo was in the city along with his fiancee, named by Italian media as Marta Scomazzon, who is thought to have suffered a fractured collarbone.

Meanwhile Belgian authorities named Mrs Vanbockrijck, from Tongeren, as among the dead, saying she was on holiday with her husband and sons at the time.

Arnould Partoens, president of the KFC Heur Tongeren football team, said Vanbockrijck was at the club 'nearly every day,' ferrying her 10- and 14-year-old boys back and forth to training and matches. He described her as very committed, often speaking her mind about the boys' and their teams' performances.

'She was not negative. She was always positive,' he said in a phone interview. He said the team would hold one minute of silence before every match and training session this weekend.

Partoens said the family was on vacation in Barcelona. The boys and their father, a policeman, were unhurt, he said. 'The mother was in the wrong moment and the wrong place,' he said. 

Spanish authorities said Mr Rodriguez, who was pictured on Las Ramblas moments before the attack, died on the spot after being hit by the terrorist's van. He was earlier reported as missing.

Elsewhere on Friday:

• Police are still hunting for Moussa Oukabir, 17, believed to be the van driver from Barcelona, though Catalan police suggest could have been among the five terrorists shot dead during a later attack in Cambrils;
• Officers said four people have been arrested over the attacks - three in Ripoll and one in Alcanar. Three are Moroccans and another is a Spaniard from the North African enclave of Melilla, none of them have any terrorist background, they are aged between 21 and 34
• Authorities named three other men they are searching for as Mohamed Hychami, Younes Abouyaaqoub and Said Aallaa, all Moroccan and aged between 17 and 24
• Police said the men had been planning the attack 'for some time', working as part of a cell operating out of Alcanar. Chief Josep Luis Trapero said the exact number is unknown, and could not rule out further attacks;
• Spanish authorities said that citizens of 34 countries were among the wounded, including those from as far afield as China, Honduras, Kuwait, Venezuela, Pakistan and Australia;
• King Felipe led a minute of silence in Barcelona as thousands of people turned out holding Catalan flags to pay tribute to the victims.

Seven-year-old Julian Cadman's grandmother Norma Canaveral told MailOnline: 'We are just so worried. I am just waiting for news, hoping for good news.'

The 66-year-old, from London, said: 'I don't know what to say. His mother is in the hospital, she's ok, but she became separated from Julian and we don't know where he is. All we can do it wait.'

Julian was born in Kent and attended the Chiddingstone Nursery before moving to Sydney three years ago with his parents Jom and Andrew Cadman.

THE TERRORISTS KILLED AND SUSPECTS ARRESTED AFTER THE BARCELONA ATTACKS

As of Friday afternoon, four people have been arrested and 14 people have been killed in connection with the terrorist attacks in Barcelona and Cambril.

The four arrested include one Spanish and one Moroccan national, one of whom was detained at the scene on Las Ramblas on Thursday.

Another handed himself in to police: This is Driss Oukabir, 28, (pictured) a Moroccan national living in Ripoll, 65 miles north of Barcelona.

He claims he is not connected and that his identity documents had been stolen by his younger brother Moussa Oukabir, 18, who is now being hunted by police. 

The third arrest, a man of unknown nationality, was also made in Ripoll, on Friday morning.

Another arrest is believed to have taken place in Ripoll on Friday morning after a heavy police presence was seen there.

Five men wearing 'suicide belts' were shot dead by police after they launched a second terrorist attack in Cambrils, 70 miles southwest of Barcelona at 1am Friday morning, injuring seven people by driving an Audi A3 into crowds on the seafront. It has since emerged that their bomb vests were fake.

A sixth person died earlier in the week in what police initially believed to have been a gas explosion in Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, but which has since been linked to the terror attacks on Thursday.

Separately, another man was found dead in a Ford Focus on Thursday. Police say he was a Spanish national who was killed as the terrorists tried ti hijack his vehicle.

Andrew is from Australia and Jom is originally from The Philippines.

Jom is in hospital in Barcelona as she recovers from yesterday's attack on Las Ramblas. Julian is still missing. Andrew has flown from Sydney to Spain.

Norma, who is Jom's cousin, but is called 'granny' by Julian, said her daughter Christabel Juguilon had been calling relatives to find out what has happened to Julian. 

Her other daughter Norie-Jean, Jom's niece, added: 'I saw the post about Julian being missing on Facebook this morning but we don't know any more.

'Julian's a really sweet boy. He loves to dance, he's a lovely, bubbly boy.'  

The Queen has sent a message of sympathy to the King of Spain following the terror attack, saying: 'It is deeply upsetting when innocent people are put at risk in this way when going about their daily lives.'

Appeals for the missing came as three Germans were also listed among the dead, according to Spanish media.  

A six-year-old girl of unknown nationality is in serious condition in hospital after suffering a cerebral haemorrhage, the New York Times reports.

Norman and Pederlita Putot, who were born in the Philippines but lived in Ireland, were named by RTE as among those caught up in the attack along with their two Irish-born children.

Their five-year-old son, who was not named, suffered a broken leg in the attack and is now in hospital along with his father, who suffered knee injuries.

Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney said: 'It's a miracle that more Irish people weren't involved, given that there are so many Irish people in Spain, Barcelona and Cambrils at this time of year.

'At the moment, you can safely say that over 300,000 Irish people are in Spain, today as we speak.

'This is not just an attack on Spain or on Barcelona, but it's an attack on the way we live as European citizens in the free world.'

French authorities initially said 26 of its citizens were in hospital, though that number was downgraded to 18 on Friday afternoon.

Eight of those are in a serious condition, including four children whose ages were not given. French citizens were among those hurt in both attacks. 

Julie Bishop, Australia's minister for foreign affairs, said two citizens were in critical condition following the attack, two more were injured, and a total of 16 Australians were caught up in the attack.

Belgium's foreign affairs minister Didier Reynders confirmed one citizen had been killed and another two injured, including one in serious condition.

Meanwhile Greek authorities said three people had been injured, identifying them as a woman and her two children, though the extent of their injuries is unclear. 

Chinese authorities said one person from Hong Kong was among those hurt, while the US also confirmed an American suffered minor injuries.

Three Dutch are also among the injured, though it is not known how badly.

Five Cubans were identified among the injured on Friday as the country's embassy in Spain said four were hurt in Barcelona and a fifth received minor injuries in the Cambrils attack that wounded a total of seven people, including a police officer.  

Spanish authorities gave a full list of the countries with wounded involved in the two attacks. They are: Germany, Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Colombia, Romania, Venezuela, Cuba, Ecuador, Egypt, Spain, North America, Philippines, France, Britain, Greece, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Honduras, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Macedonia, Mauritania, Pakistan, Peru, Dominican Republic, and Turkey.

Meanwhile officers are still hunting for the driver of the van that rammed holidaymakers in Barcelona.

He is believed to be Moussa Oukabir, an 18-year-old Moroccan-born teenager, who rented the vehicle using documents under the name of Driss Oukabir, his brother.

Driss, 26, handed himself over to police yesterday after being named as a suspect, saying he was not involved.

Police are linking the two attacks and believe a terror cell with up to 12 members lived in the resort town of Alcanar, 120 miles south of Barcelona, where a house-cum-bomb factory packed with gas canisters was destroyed in an explosion on Wednesday killing one man and injuring another. 

Four men including Driss have been arrested - police initially identified a fifth suspect who had apparently rammed a barricade in Sant Just Desvern, Barcelona, but he was later identified as a victim who had been carjacked by the terrorists.

The terror began in Barcelona yesterday and spread to Cambrils overnight and police believe the terror cell has a safe house in Alcanar and has links to Moroccan brothers from Ripoll
