Superstar DJ Calvin Harris was turned down by Geordie Shore's Sophie Kasaei, according to The Sun.

The pair were attending the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night, when Calvin, 33, allegedly took a shining to the 27-year-old Newcastle-born reality star and attempted to 'make a beeline' for her.

Calvin, who is the world's highest paid DJ, was 'really interested in Sophie and made a beeline for her, but it was a bit of a surprise even to Sophie, who had no idea that he was a fan', according to sources.

However Sophie, who has been in a relationship with Joel Corry for six years, reportedly snubbed the ex-boyfriend of Taylor Swift's advances.

'He asked her to come and sit with him in the best seats in the house, but she politely declined,' the source continued.

But Calvin was apparently still keen to talk to the Geordie Shore beauty, and invited her to party with him at his exclusive private afterparty.

'That just happened to be at the same hotel she was staying in, and they ended up partying until almost 5am.'

Despite allegedly enjoying the party, Sophie was still keen to make public her affections for her long-term beau.

Thanking the event on Twitter, Sophie also gave Joel a special mention, saying that she couldn't wait to see him.

'So the MTV VMAs was a day I will remember forever!Iv loved every minute of being here in LA but can't wait to go home to fam @JoelCorry', she penned.

She spoke to MTV about the years of 'tormenting' her hair over the years due to her love of extensions, which have subsequently left her hair frail and scattered with bald patches.

She revealed her reason for speaking out was to ensure others are aware that they must 'give their hair a break' to avoid loss and damage to the same level.

Sophie first soared to fame on the MTV show in its 2011 inauguration although she was kicked off the programme in the seventh series after reportedly using a racial slur - in a move which shocked viewers.

Yet the South Shields-born beauty, who returned in a blaze of glory last year, has become a fan favourite once more and she prepares once more for the next series.

Away from the bedding, boozing and brawling of the show, Sophie is using her fame for awareness as she discussed her painful battle with hair loss.

She said: 'Because of all the extensions I've been getting, I've suffered from Contraction (traction) Alopecia. Which means that I've lost hair on the sides and that it may never come back.

'And that's not because of the extensions that I'm getting in. It's because of all the years I've been tormenting my hair.

'Going forward, I just want to start looking after my hair and I just want to make people aware that if you are getting extensions give your hair a break in between because you don't want to end up with bald patches like this.'

Aside from her battles with her tresses, Sophie has previously opened up about how she feels insecure over her curvaceous figure, particularly when surrounded by past and present co-stars, such as Charlotte Crosby, Vicky Pattison and Holly Hagan, who have formed fitness empires.

Speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Sophie revealed that the absence of book or DVD deals in her future means she struggles to lose weight of her own accord, leading to her concerns that she has 'let herself go'.
