Jack O'Brien, 22, denies attempting to rob the England-capped 28-year-old on November 2 2016. The 6ft 4ins footballer (pictured left today) was returning home from his club's training ground in his Jeep (right) when he was chased by two motorbikes, Basildon Crown Court heard today. Prosecutor Simon Gladwell said one then approached him at traffic lights in Romford Road, Hainault, north-east London and demanded his £22,000 watch off his wrist. The terrified footballer, 28, (right) sped off, did a U-turn, drove on the wrong side of the road, struck about ten cars and then jumped a red light to get away. The panicked star initially called his partner Billi Mucklow's (together inset) father who then urged Carroll to call the police instead. He said in a frantic 999 call played to a jury: 'There's two motorbikes, one's behind me pulling out a gun, I don't know what to do' before telling the handler: 'I'm a Premier League footballer'.

'All options are on the table': Trump sends ominous warning to Kim Jong-un after North Korean leader launches missile over Japan forcing Seoul to retaliate with eight bombs near border
U.S. President Donald Trump said in a statement that he had received Kim Jong-un's message 'loud and clear' after this morning's missile test, and that it signalled ‘contempt for its neighbors, for all members of the United Nations, and for minimum standards of acceptable international behavior’. Trump added that ‘all options are on the table' when it comes to solving the issue with North Korea. It followed a threat by South Korea to 'exterminate' Kim Jong-un if he continues to risk the safety of its population. Within hours of the missile launch, South Korea had responded with 'overwhelming show of force' by bombing a shooting range in Taebaek, Gangwon-do province, near its border to the North as part of a military drill, launching footage which contained a stern warning to Kim Jong-Un. The rocket, reportedly a mid-range ballistic missile designed to carry a nuclear payload, was fired from a region near the capital Pyongyang over Japan. It broke into three pieces off the coast of Hokkaido and landed in the Pacific Ocean, around 700 miles east of Cape Erimo, after travelling 1,700m in eight minutes.
Two million Muslims arrive at Mecca in Saudi Arabia for hajj pilgrimage two years after stampede killed more than 2,000 believers

The pilgrimage also comes at a time where the Gulf is embroiled in its worst ever political crisis, with Saudi Arabia and its allies facing off against Qatar, which they accuse of being too close to Iran and backing extremism. Pictured, thousands of Muslims gather around the Kaaba, at the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Mecca and inset, worshippers visit Mount Al-Noor, also in the holy city in Saudi Arabia.

When the Schit hits the fans: Russia unveils its appropriately-named new anti-riot truck which can break up protests or football violence
Vladimir Putin has introduced the newest weapon in his arsenal - the enormous Schit machine designed to take his country's crowd control to the next level. The giant anti-riot vehicle is the work of Russia's largest arms manufacturer and the company behind the Kalashnikov rifle. The exact specifications of the monster vehicle have yet to be released, but it looks similar to an 18-tonne police vehicle called The Bozena Riot, made in Slovakia, engineered to protect officers from football hooligans, violent mobs, and aggressive political protesters. Russia's model the Schit - which translates to 'shield' - has been built by Kalashnikov Concern, which produces 95 percent of the weapons in the country and supplies arms to 27 nations around the world.
