Mark Wood thought he had been talking to a 14-year-old boy named John on gay dating app, Grindr. He was unaware that he had actually been communicating with the anti-paedophile vigilante group, Silent Justice. After arranging to meet with 'John', Wood, of Warwickshire, was confronted by the group's founder, Daniel Hurst, who streamed the confrontation live on Facebook. In the video, which was streamed for 45 minutes, Mr Hirst confronts Wood as he is waiting.

Polish-born Ryszard Masierak, 31, of Evesham, Worcestershire, sobbed in the dock at High Wycombe Magistrates' Court today (right) where he appeared in connection with Britain's most deadly road crash for a generation. Six men and two women travelling in a minibus including its much-loved driver Cyriac Joseph (top left) and IT expert Vivek Baskaran (bottom left) died in the worst tragedy on Britain's roads for nearly 25 years. Their minibus is said to have swerved to avoid Masierak's stationary Scania lorry in lane one only to be 'squashed flat' (inset) as it collided with a second lorry in lane two near Newport Pagnell at 3.15am on Saturday morning. Masierak, whose former flatmate said he is living in his car after splitting with his wife, is accused of eight counts of causing death by dangerous, four counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving. Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was revered by his followers but 'acted like a wild beast and did not deserve any mercy', a judge ruled when jailing him for 20 years. Singh was convicted on Friday of raping the two women at the sprawling headquarters of his hugely popular Dera Sacha Sauda sect in the northern state of Haryana, in a case dating back more than 15 years.

Vladimir Putin has introduced the newest weapon in his arsenal - the enormous Schit machine designed to take his country's crowd control to the next level.  The giant anti-riot vehicle is the work of Russia's largest arms manufacturer and the company behind the Kalashnikov rifle.  The exact specifications of the monster vehicle have yet to be released, but it looks similar to an 18-tonne police vehicle called The Bozena Riot, made in Slovakia, engineered to protect officers from football hooligans, violent mobs, and aggressive political protesters. Russia's model the Schit - which translates to 'shield' - has been built by Kalashnikov Concern, which produces 95 percent of the weapons in the country and supplies arms to 27 nations around the world.
