A sour note! Fifth Harmony throw shade at ex-member Camila Cabello as they bump doppelganger off stage during VMA performance... amid claims the group are set to SPLIT

They are said to be splitting up after their current album cycle to peruse solo projects.

But on Sunday night, the four remaining members of Fifth Harmony showed their unity with each other in a stunt mocking their former member Camila Cabello, who left the group in December of 2016.

The opening of their performance featured the girls as a fivesome in matching space outfits, a nod to MTV's 'moon person' statue.

As their track Angel began to play, the fifth person on the stage falls off, leaving the group's current lineup of Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui, Normani Kordei, and Dinah Jane Hansen.

The ladies stomped the stage with impressive choreography, with Dancing With The Stars alum Kordei even falling into an impressive split as she sang her part of the group's track Down.

Normani's move was promptly followed by an audience reaction shot, showing singers Bebe Rexha and Hailee Steinfeld in awe of 21-year-old Kordei's flexibility.

Their sexy romp across the stage ended with the ladies standing underneath an indoor rain shower as they soaked up the audience's applause.

Their performance comes amid claims the four-piece are planning to pursue solo projects.

A source told The Sun: '[Their label] are convinced they have a winning formula if they can release their solo projects, and still look after them when they occasionally make music together.

'Epic has a first look arrangement with them which means they get first dibs on their solo projects before other labels, and expect the girls to break up temporarily after their next album.

'The girls are sisters and will always love being in a group but they’re all aware of what they could do as solo stars.'

MailOnline has contacted Fifth Harmony's representatives for comment.

Earlier in the night, the group were asked about Camila by shock DJ Charlamagne Tha God on MTV's live pre-show.

He asked: 'Now if y'all win the award do y'all give one to the member who's no longer in the group?'

An awkward silence followed before Normani shot back: 'If we win best choreography, we'll actually give it to our choreographer.'

'Shady!', Charlamagne shouted in response as the ladies politely smiled.

The group did end up winning Best Pop Video for their Down clip, which was taped after Camila had been long gone from the pop band.

Despite The Sun's report that 5H are soon to part ways, their Video Music Awards showing is far from their last appearance together.

The girls have concerts booked across the globe through the end of October, kicking off on September 2 in Japan.

The Sun reports Ally Brooke, 24, Normani, Dinah Jane, 20, and Lauren Jauregui, 21, have all been offered solo deals by their label Epic.

Although Ally, Normani, Dinah Jane and Lauren are expected to create their own careers they will reportedly reunite occasionally to continue the group.

'Epic believes that each member has the potential to be a superstar in their own right,' a label source told the newspaper.

Meanwhile, Camila, 20, has been carving out a successful solo career that began even before she quit the group last year.

In November 2015 she released hit single, I Know What You Did Last Summer, with Canadian singer Shawn Mendes, which they wrote together.

Carving out a successful solo career: Camila, seen at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas in May, quit Fifth Harmony nine months ago. Her firt solo album is due out in September

She followed that up with single, Bad Things, with American rapper Machine Gun Kelly, which dropped in October 2016, two months before Camila announced she was quitting Fifth Harmony.

Camila was later featured in Hey Ma, a collaboration with Pitbull and J Balvin for blockbuster movie The Fate Of The Furious: The Album.

Her debut solo album, The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving., is set to be released next month.
