Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot stuns in a simple white tee and denim skirt as she returns to her native Israel for a summer break

She shot into the spotlight earlier this year when she played the title character in Wonder Woman.

But Gal Gadot returned to her roots on Wednesday, as she was seen arriving back in her native Israel for a summer break.

The actress, 32, looked effortlessly stunning in a casual T-shirt and denim skirt ensemble as she happily wandered the streets of Tel Aviv with a friend.

Gal, who has been incredibly busy promoting the newest Marvel flick in recent weeks, looked more than happy to be back in her home town, catching up with friends and family.

Embracing the warm weather, the brunette slipped into a thigh-skimming denim skirt, which cinched in at her waist and left her long and lean legs on show.

Keeping her look casual but chic, the actress paired the skirt with a simple white T-shirt, which featured a trendy slit and cut-out at the top.

Adding studded sandals to her feet for a hint of glitz, she tied her look together with a black handbag, slung over one shoulder, and glamorous cat-eye sunglasses.

Sweeping her tresses into a tight ponytail and opting for minimal make-up, the former Miss Israel let her enviably clear and glowing complexion take centre stage as she wandered the city with a friend.

Snapping a few photos with her iPhone in hand, Gal could not contain stop beaming as she spent an afternoon with her nearest and dearest.

The actress appeared more than happy to be taking a break, following a hectic few weeks promoting her film Wonder Woman, released in June.

However while the flick received a rave reception from fans, Gal was recently forced to defend herself against body shamers, who claimed she was not curvy enough to play the iconic superhero.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said: 'Listen, if you want to be for real, then the Amazons, they had only one boob.

'So what are you talking about here? Me having small boobs and small ass? That will make all the difference.'

She also joked about the difficulties she faced when filming action scenes while pregnant with her second child - admitting she was initially reluctant to share the news that she was expecting with the cast and crew.

She said: 'I didn't want attention. The default should be that women get the job done, but there's a long way to go and a lot of reprogramming that needs to be done to both genders.

'We cut open the costume and had this green screen on my stomach. It was funny as hell – Wonder Woman with a bump.'
