Fans question why Game Of Thrones stars Lena Headey and Jerome Flynn are never in the same scenes amid claims they are 'kept apart at all costs' following 'acrimonious' off-screen romance

Given his affiliation with King Slayer Jaimie Lannister, one would assume roguish mercenary Bronn would be privy to every key development as Game of Thrones reaches its undeniably thrilling endgame.

But the hugely popular character’s absence from a pivotal scene as Sunday evening’s season seven finale played out prompted furious speculation from fans of the HBO show – and the re-emergence of historic claims regarding actor Jerome Flynn’s off-screen relationship with co-star Lena Headey.

Viewers questioned why Bronn, played by Flynn, would not be present while Headey’s Queen Cersei informed brother Jaimie of a Machiavellian plan to break her pledge to Daenerys Targaryen and King of the North Jon Snow in their battle against the army of the dead.

Curiously, Bronn was also missing as Cersei disingenuously promised to send her troops north, ostensibly to aid in their fight against the Night King - despite several other key characters being present.

Fans have since insisted the answer is rooted in allegations of an acrimonious off-screen romance shared by Jerome and Lena, long before their casting on the hit show.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph in 2014, a crew-member claimed the co-stars were no longer on speaking terms, with the bitter end to their relationship resulting in both parties doggedly avoiding one another on set.

'Jerome and Lena aren’t on speaking terms any more and they are never in the same room at the same time,' the insider explained.

'It’s a pity because they appeared to have patched things up for a while, but now the word is they should be kept apart at all costs.'

Jerome, whose other other TV credits include Soldier Soldier and Ripper Street, previously offered an ambiguous response when asked about his relationship with the actress.

'We’re not a couple right now, people have seen us together and jumped to conclusions,' he said in 2003. 'I can’t rule out a relationship with her in the future, I just don’t know.'

Lena went on to marry musician Peter Loughran in 2007 before divorcing five years later. The former couple are parents to seven-year old son Wylie.

The actress has since given birth to her second child, daughter Teddy, with new partner Dan Cadan.

MailOnline has contacted Lena and Jerome's representatives for further comment.
