It's an exciting time for Nicole, who is known for her outgoing and vibrant personality on the X Factor judging panel.

And Nicole is back to her old tricks on Saturday night's instalment of X Factor as she starts dancing and singing along to charismatic boyband Rak-Su's self-penned song I'm Feeling You.

Getting into the groove of the room auditions, the Poison hitmaker happily sang the chorus of the talent show hopeful's track - which was about how frontman Jamaal met his girlfriend - for their first appearance during the series premiere.

The Watford R&B and grime four-piece - which is made up of rapper Myles, singer Jamaal, songwriter Ashley and DJ and dancer Mustafa - appeared to win over the American beauty within seconds of performing their song as she swayed to the beat and threw her arms in the air.

Not only grabbing Nicole's attention, the band's catchy tune became an ear worm for host Dermot O'Leary and other auditionees, who began to clap and sing along.

However, viewers of the ITV entertainment stalwart will have to wait until Saturday night to see if the four childhood friends score four yeses from the judges and make through to Bootcamp.

The band's self-written track comes after head judge Simon Cowell encouraged hopefuls to perform their own original material for the upcoming 14th series, which was also echoed by Nicole.

He said: 'When they are good song writers, you have to encourage that, 100 per cent, otherwise it's just karaoke'.

'The biggest thing for me this year is artists being able to sing their own, original material,' Nicole shared at the X Factor press day. 'That's when true colours come through and you see the authenticity of the act.'

'Original songs make the person more transparent than ever and they're telling you what kind of artist they are. It's been really awesome and I'm excited about that.'

Earlier this summer it was reported that Simon had made some changes in the The X Factor in order to shake off stiff ratings competition with arch rival, Strictly Come Dancing.

And in the first look of the singing competition's 14th series, the music mogul, 57, has explained the change in format - namely less live shows - as he hit back at claims that it was due to 'low ratings.'

Explaining the shake-up of the show - which also has Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh as confirmed judges, Simon admitted: 'When you've done it for 14 years you can't keep making the same show every year.

Hitting the right notes: Beaming as they sang, she got caught up in the moment as she threw her pen across the judges' table when one member began to pop and lock, chiming in: 'Oh, here he is!'

'I think you have to realise what the contestants are in it for, why do so many people enter? I think if you just make the same show each year it becomes boring and predictable.'

He continued to reason: 'So you try and make changes for the better, not everything works but some ideas we've got for the live shows are going to be good.

'There are less live shows, which has come as surprise to many and some have said that it's a reaction to ratings.

'What was the thinking behind that decision? I just think it's the way things are in all these shows at the moment. The early and middle rounds rate well.

'So, the idea is to do more of the middle shows and less of the live shows. We'll see if it works,' he explained his decision.

Nicole also praised his decision to shake up the show: 'The change in the number of live shows is just one of the ways Simon plans to freshen up the series this year, are you excited by what he has planned?'

She enthusiastically continued: 'I love all the changes he's making. You have to in this day and age, things are moving so fast over social media, you have to be changing with the times.'

'You have to evolve. We're evolving as a show, we want to give the people what they want!'

The X Factor returns to ITV on Saturday 2nd September and Sunday 3rd September at 8pm
