Giants’ Beckham returns to practice

New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. participated in individual drills during Thursday’s practice for the first time since suffering an ankle injury during the preseason.

Flacco says he’s not 100 percent yet

Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco said Wednesday he isn’t fully healed after a back injury caused him to miss all of Baltimore’s preseason, but added he feels “really good.”

Andy Dalton puts awful opener in past as Bengals face Texans

The crowd at Paul Brown Stadium will get on Dalton if he comes out subpar when the Bengals host the Texans, with both teams coming off lopsided opening losses. Dalton, who grew up in the Houston suburb of Katy, has struggled throughout his career against the Texans’ in-your-face defense.

Baker Mayfield leads No. 2 Oklahoma with unknown supporting cast

Now surrounded by a group of freshmen, transfers, walk-ons and players with expanded roles, Mayfield has been just as good, if not better, than last year. His six touchdown passes this season have gone to six different players.

NCAA reforming transfer rules by tying them to academics

The NCAA is in the process of reforming its rules for athletes who transfer - and the mere suggestion of changes that could make it easier for football and basketball players to leave one school and play immediately for another was enough to stir things up.

Florida teams resume playing in Sunshine State after Irma

There are many lingering problems all around Florida in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma, including thousands still without power and the evacuation of nursing homes. Sports teams around the Sunshine State hope to take people's minds off their problems , if only for a few hours, when they return to playing fields around the state.

Jake Roh's 3 TDs lead Boise State past New Mexico 28-14

Jake Roh caught two touchdown passes and took a direct snap for a 6-yard TD run, and Boise State pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat New Mexico 28-14 on Thursday night in the Mountain West Conference opener for both teams.
