Mark Halsey, the official who did not send off Callum McManaman for his high tackle on Massadio Haidara, has not been given a Barclays Premier League game to referee this weekend.

Halsey will referee Friday's npower League One game between Coventry and Doncaster.

Halsey did not issue a red card to Wigan striker McManaman during his side's 2-1 win over Newcastle on March 17 because, he said later, his view of the challenge on Haidara was blocked.

Shocker: Halsey failed to punish Wigan's Callum McManaman for this 'challenge' on Massadio Haidara

Because of the international break, this weekend will be the first round of Premier League fixtures since the incident, and Halsey's only top-flight outing will be as the fourth official for Reading's trip to Arsenal.

McManaman's tackle was greeted with outrage, but could not be punished in retrospect by the Football Association because one of Halsey's two assistants saw the incident, provoking a debate about the merits of disciplinary system.

This isnt fair on the ref, footage clearly shows a player blocking his view of this... the linesman should have grown a pair and said something. And how the hell can the FA justify this and let the player off scott free?? - Bonkers , Glos, 26/3/2013 23:04 --------- The footage you refer to is one still shot from a moving clip, the player is actually running out of the line of sight, Halseys view was blocked for a split second. Run the clip on a second and you could generate a still that shows a clear line of sight and the raised leg still connecting to the unfortunate player

Not right. Missing the tackle was an honest mistake, but the lack of retrospective action is entirely down to the FA's insistence on toeing the ludicrous guidelines set out by FIFA.

Joke decision. Halsey didn't see the incident and was clearly obstructed in his view of the incident anyway. The linesman alone is the one who should be dropped (out of a window preferably) for his shambolic display.

but nothing has been said about the linesman.i think he deserves a punishment as well.

he hasnt been dropped! Select group officials have to officiate a certain number of football league games per season as well as the Premier League! Halsey was in charge for the Steel City Derby last season, and that was League 1!

do not get why he's been dropped... he didn't see the tackle... The F.A. need to take a step back and see how ridiculous they are... Not giving the lad a suspension then dropping Halsey? Making a fool out of themselves...

Not Halsey's fault, he couldn't see it. The fault was the lino's who had a clear view. So Halsey is punished for something he couldn't see, yet Clattenburg and Foy, who make blunder after blunder, carry on. Ludicrous.
