If you've ever run out of Prosecco at a party, then a new jumbo-sized bottle launching at discount supermarket Aldi could be the answer to your problems.

The German-owned chain is to launch a three-litre jereboam of Prosecco in time for the festive season to ensure that partygoers stay merry throughout the night.

The bottle costs less than £40 - while similar bottles are on sale at Selfridge's for just under £100.

Aldi is selling its Giotti Prosecco, from the Venato region in Italy, for £39.99 from November 14. It contains six bottles' worth of alcohol

The £39.99 bottle of high-quality DOCG Prosecco contains a whopping six bottles' worth of booze.

Meanwhile, Selfridge's sells the same-sized bottle of the popular Italian sparkling wine for £99.99.

The booze will be available to buy from November 14, with Aldi launching the jereboam in time for Christmas and the New Year.

Aldi is renowned for selling Prosecco at a very cheap price. It currently sells a magnum for just 12.99

Aldi describe the Prosecco as 'a beautifully pale straw colour'.

They add that: 'the nose is light with a reassurance of fresh citrus fruits and wisteria flower.

'On the palate, the wine is delicate yet serious, with a refreshing acidity and soft sherbet taste.'

It comes two months after Aldi's £9.97 Oliver Cromwell London Dry Gin was crowned one of the best in the world at a prestigious international spirits competition.

The spirit was presented with a gold medal at the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) - beating a bottle that costs four times the price at £39.95.
