The 'ghost' Jaguar E-Type that enthusiasts feared was lost forever has been in music producer Pete Waterman's garage for the last 30 years - and now it's expected to sell for £145,000
It's not an unfamiliar story - an important car in an iconic model's history that had dropped off the radar for decades only to be tracked down years later and sold for a small fortune. The only different with this first-of-its-kind Jaguar E-Type is that his one hasn't been stored in a barn or left to rust in the garden of a dilapidated estate - it belonged to music producer and former Pop Idol judge Pete Waterman for the last three decades.
Renault cars sold in the early 2020s could behave like our pets and even levitate above the road, according to student designs
Students from Central Saint Martins University of Arts London were asked by Renault to create cars of the future. All had to be electric, autonomous and feature connected technologies. The winner, 'The Float' (pictured), is a one- or two-person pod that levitates above the ground and other road users can attach their pod to yours to share a journey. Other concepts said our cars could soon act like our animals, greeting us when we get in.

Ten iconic British cars that WON'T need an MOT from next year, as the test is axed for those over 40 years old
Own a classic British car and panic each time you book it in for an MOT in fear it could cost you a small fortune in repairs? New rules confirmed by the Department for Transport last week say any car over 40 years old will not have to endure a roadworthiness examination. That means any car built before 1978 will be MOT exempt from May 2018. Here are 10 iconic British cars that fall into the 18-year window created by the rule change.
'My Tesla costs £20 to charge and has wi-fi': With the Government set to end production of new petrol and diesel cars by 2040...is it time to go ELECTRIC now?
There are more than 355,000 electric cars on Britain's roads. Whether pure electric, plug-in hybrid or a hybrid where electric takes just some of the load, they account for about 5 per cent of new vehicle sales. But these numbers are set to spiral as manufacturers power ahead with new models. The revolution has been more than 100 years in the making - as long as the electric car's nemesis, the internal combustion engine. John Quinn (pictured) has made the switch.
Half a million cars will NOT need an MOT next year under new rules that will see 40 year-old vehicles exempt for the roadworthiness test
An additoinal 300,000 cars in Britain will no longer need an MOT test from next year under new rules that will see any model older than 40 years exempt from the annual roadworthiness check-up. Currently, only vehicles built or first registered before 1960 are exempt from the MOT test. It will mean around 1.5% of all cars used on the road today will not need to pass the mechanical examination - and many people are concerned about the dangers of unchecked older vehicles.

It was ordered by the legendary guitarist and collected by Rolling Stones tour manager, Alan Dunn, in 1983, along with seven other Ferraris purchased by the band and its associates following the successful tour for the Tattoo You album release.
The day the boy racers broke the bank: Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth sells for a colossal £115K, as 1980s classics take Silverstone auction by storm
If someone told you at the end of the 1980s that in less than 30 year's time a Ford Sierra would be worth £115,000, a Vauxhall Lotus Carlton £72,000 and a Peugeot 205 GTI almost £40,000, you'd have probably doubled over in hysterics. But the spike in classic car values in recent years has seen the price of hot hatches and Fast Fords spike - like the Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 pictured that just sold at auction for £115,000.
