The tight stuff! Kate Winslet shows off her figure in form-fitting cut-out LBD at The Mountain Between Us screening in New York

She spent tireless months filming her role as a stranded flight passenger Alex in the film, The Mountain Between Us.

And on Tuesday, Kate Winslet was able to bask in the fruits of her labour as she attended a New York screening for the drama, which co-stars Idris Elba.

Director Hany Abu-Assad also attended, and the two engaged in a Q&A with Entertainment Weekly writer Jeff Labrecque.

Earlier in the day, Kate stopped by Good Morning America in promotion of her film. 

The actress chatted about the film's premise,  and told of how it mirrored her own real-life love story. 

'The Mountain Between Us is about two complete strangers who end up chartering a small aircraft, which crashes and the story is about how they have to survive and they ultimately fall in love,' she began.

'And when I first read this script, I was so moved by it, because that really did happen to me.'  

'I met my husband, and then the following day, the house that we were in burned,' she explained. 'This was in the Caribbean, exactly six years ago. And then that man, that stranger, who was wonderful at keeping my kids spirits up, and making them laugh, became my husband!' 

Kate wed Ned, her third husband, in 2012. She was previously married to Sam Mendes and Jim Threapleton. 

The Mountain Between Us will be released on October 6.
