The pregnant actress, 36, surprised fans with the news on Tuesday, which she revealed by posting a close-up picture of her new husband's hands cradling her growing bump, clad in a white wedding dress.

Both wore their wedding bands in the intimate image, shot on the beach beside the shoreline.

Jokingly dubbing the nuptials a 'shotgun wedding', Julia geo-tagged the Instagram image in Seattle, Washington.

The couple met when Preston was a camera assistant on Julia's 2005 film Blackway.

The pair got engaged on Christmas Eve in 2015 during a romantic vacation to Isla Grande in Colombia.

The Save the Last Dance star, appearing on Live! With Kelly last July, said that some of Cook's questions prior to his proposal tipped her off to his romantic plans.

'We had had a conversation waiting for an elevator one day, where he was randomly like, out of nowhere, "With jewelry, you don’t really wear silver or platinum. You’re more into gold,"' she said.

'And then I went, "What is up with this conversation?"'

Julia told People last summer she and Cook were comfortable with a long engagement period, and in no rush to the altar.

'We’re really slow on the wedding planning so I haven’t really been soliciting advice,' the Dexter star said.

Julia recently played the art dealer Georgina on the TV drama Riviera, which is set, as its title would suggest, on France's Côte d'Azur.

All 10 episodes streamed stateside on Sundance Now starting this month.

The cast of the show also includes Lena Olin, Adrian Lester, Iwan Rheon, Dimitri Leonidas and Anthony LaPaglia as the billionaire with the ill-starred yacht.
