'I was very impressed with my skin': WAG Nicole Slater reveals she learnt to love her looks after seeing a flattering photo of herself on the sidelines of an NRL match

She made a glamorous arrival at the Dally M awards on Wednesday night with NRL star husband Billy Slater.

And Nicole Slater has opened up about how she got her red carpet confidence, revealing she learnt to embrace her appearance after seeing herself on television from the sidelines of an NRL game.

'That's a little bit confronting but I was impressed with my skin,' Nicole told The Daily Telegraph.

A friend of Nicole told her a close-up of her face was shown on television during an NRL match.

'I have a fat head as it is, so when I filled up that whole screen I was a little bit like, "Oh that's a little bit confronting",' Nicole said. 

'But I was very impressed with my skin,' she went on to say.

The footage saw Nicole sporting a floral blouse and purple blazer, standing and clapping among the crowd.

Her brunette locks looked to have been freshly blow-dried and she drew attention to an elegant makeup palette.

Nicole also took to Instagram, commenting on her close-up while tagging her skin and laser clinic: 'Wow - thank god for @skinnlaser you just never know when u are going to get a close up on TV.'

Wednesday night saw Nicole making a glamorous arrival at the Dally M awards in Sydney, alongside husband Billy Slater, 34.

Nicole wore an emerald green mermaid-style Portia & Scarlett frock that enhanced her bust and slender waist, while flaring of fabric from the knees down added a dramatic touch.

The photographer styled her tresses in tight curls and her sparkling wedding rings worked as accessories.

Billy cut a suave figure in a tailored black suit, crisp white dress shirt, narrow tie and black dress shoes.
