A Bobby Ewing shower moment! Will And Grace writes off show's finale flash forward as dream in revival debut

It was a plot twist lifted straight from Dallas.

For Will And Grace wrote off the show's famous finale as a mere dream in the season debut of the show's revival series on Thursday.

It was a moment that echoed Bobby Ewing's infamous appearance in the shower in the end of the 1985–1986 season, despite the fact he had been killed off a year before.

In one of television's most talked about moments, it was later explained that the whole season had been a dream of his fiancee and ex-wife Pamela.

The flash forward finale of Will And Grace had shown the two pals drifting apart, before being reunited 20 years later when their children ended up living next to each other at the same university.

In NBC's revival premiere, this was all written off in a scene that showed Megan Mullally's Karen spaced out while enjoying a martini as she relaxed on the couch.

She then told the show's titular characters: 'I had the craziest dream. You were there and you were there.'

Sean Hayes' Jack was shocked to discover he was not in the dream at all.

She then referred to Will's ex Vince D’Angelo and Grace’s ex-husband Leo Markus, who was played by Harry Connick Jr.

Kate said: 'In my dream, Will was living with a swarthy man in uniform and Grace was married to a Jew doctor.'

But Eric McCormack's Will explained: 'Yeah, we were. But we’re single now.'

And the fate of their children who 'grew up and got married to each other' was equally dispensed with, with Will telling Karen it 'never happened.'

The shrill socialite then quipped: 'Ugh, what a relief. Nobody wants to see you two raise kids.'

It was all rather apt, given Karen has trouble separating stories she has read, seen, or heard about with real life.
