The Canadian hostage who was freed from Taliban captivity in Aghanistan along with his wife and three young children recalled the harrowing firefight which led to the release of his family. Former hostage Joshua Boyle (inset) said Saturday from his parents' home in Canada that full medical exams were being arranged for him and his family after they were rescued from their captors, the Taliban-linked extremist Haqqani network in Afghanistan. Boyle, his American wife, Caitlan Coleman, and their three children (above) were rescued Wednesday, five years after the couple was abducted by the extremist Haqqani network while in Afghanistan as part of a backpacking trip.

After video of Ronald Hiers and his wife overdosing on heroin in Memphis, Tennessee went viral roughly one year ago, the former opioid addict began to get his life together. On the one-year anniversary of his October 3, 2016 overdose, Hiers, 61, caught up with Inside Edition about how his life has changed. He recounted how his 35-year-old daughter from a previous marriage served as his 'spiritual awakening'. She saw the video and got him committed to a drug rehabilitation facility. He ended up spending 39 days in a Mississippi rehab center and now spends his days attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and speaking with other people who are fighting addiction. 'I owe it to these people...who say, "You're such an inspiration to me."'

An 8-year-old has died after falling from the balcony of a cruise ship's interior atrium while docked at a port in Miami. Investigators said the girl, whose identity has yet to be released, fell off the second story deck of the Carnival Cruise ship Glory around 8.15am ET Saturday morning. Doctors later said that the young girl had succumb to injuries and died at the hospital. Police have opened an investigation into the event while the ship has resumed normal operations.

The daughter of film producer Harvey Weinstein is being tended to by aides at her Hollywood home, as the sex scandal surrounding her disgraced father unfolds. Lily Weinstein, 22, who also goes by Remy and is the eldest of four daughters by Harvey, has been keeping a low-profile since her father has been accused of sexual harassment, groping and rape by more than 30 women in the film industry. She was seen being looked after by a number of assistants, as they appeared to embark on running errands for her while ferrying in and out of her home on Friday.

Chelsea Clinton fled to her car to avoid answering questions from a DailyMail.com reporter about if the Clinton Foundation will return Weinstein's donations. Clinton, a board member of the Foundation, ran while she was attending a Clinton Global Initiative University event in Northeastern University in Boston. Weinstein has given between $100,000 and $250,000 to the foundation, according to its records.

Authorities in Bascom say that on October 6, Esbeidi (pronounced Es-Betty) Sanchez waited for her two young sons to walk through the door after school and shot them both in the head. After killing Ronaldinio 'Ronny' Ramirez-Sanchez, 7 and critically injuring Gustavo 'Angel' Ramirez-Sanchez, 5, she used the gun on herself. Her husband, Thomas Sanchez, came home to discover the gruesome scene, frantically placing a call for help with local police. 'Angel' Ramirez-Sanchez was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Tallahassee, where he pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

Paroled OJ Simpson was drinking the juice of an adult beverage kind in Las Vegas on Friday while chatting up women during his evening on the town. The 70-year-old felon seems to be making the most of his new freedom as he ordered drinks and took pictures with fans at the upscale Grape Street Wine Bar & Cellar. Harvey Langi, 25, was in the driver's seat and stopped at a red light when another vehicle rear-ended his car in Foxborough, Massachusetts on Friday night, the Patriots said in a statement. Langi's wife was reportedly in the passenger seat and both were hospitalized with injuries. Photos from the crash scene showed a dark SUV that had collided with the rear of a dark sedan.

A third-degree black belt waiter successfully fended off a robber who attempted to yank open the cash register from a Texas IHOP restaurant. These children got quite a shock when the lion they were filming suddenly lunged at them at Kruger National Park, in South Africa. The clip shows the youngsters leaning out of the wound-down windows of their car and pointing their devices at the beast which was lying in the road with a female companion. They appear to be very excited about getting so close to the animals which at first seem to be taking no notice of them.

The enormous 20ft long snake is kept as a pet at the family's home in Thanh Hoa province, northern Vietnam.
