Feeling nostalgic? As stars like Margot Robbie step out with '90s-inspired beauty looks, her make-up artist shares tips to nail the throwback style
- Margot, 27, brought back matte neutral make-up and the power bob on the red carpet Wednesday
- Celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin have also recently embraced the decade's beauty trends
- Make-up artist Pati Dubroff shares her tips for creating a '90s look
After filming the forthcoming I, Tonya, a movie about '90s figure skater Tonya Harding, Margot Robbie is feeling nostalgic for the decade.
This week, the actress stepped out wearing pieces from Versace's latest collection, which was a tribute to the late Gianni Versace and his designs from the period, twice. Her glam squad looked to the outfits, as well as nineties-era supermodels when creating the beauty looks for both occasions.
Margot isn't the only one in Hollywood sourcing beauty inspiration from the '90s of late. Kendall Jenner and Hailey Baldwin are among the celebrities who have recently stepped out with bouncy bobs, monochromatic neutral make-up and hair accessories that bring to mind the time.
Below, we detail how you can try the throwback trend at home, with tips from Margot's make-up artist Pati Dubroff.
Throwback Wednesday? Margot Robbie, 27, paid homage to the 1990s at a movie screening last night wearing a vintage Versace print from 1995 and make-up inspired by the decade
Flipping out: Margot brought to mind the '90s a second time Wednesday on Good Morning America with her sleek bob complete with flipped ends and a red Versace blazer
Still got it: The original supermodels, like Naomi Campbell (center) and Cindy Crawford (second from right) walked the Versace show last month in '90s-esque beauty looks
FACE
Give your highlighter a day off because in the '90s, what Pati calls 'polished and velvety skin' was king.
After applying foundation on Margot ahead of a New York screening of her newest film Good Bye Christopher Robin on Wednesday, Pati warmed up Margot's complexion with Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Canyon, a matte, orange-tinged nude, and then dusted setting powder over the entire face.
EYES
For the ultimate '90s eye look, it's all about matte, neutral hues. For Margot, Pati mixed together shades of pale pink and cream eyeshadows.
When working with a pale make-up palette, Pati notes that it's important to define the brows with make-up for contrast.
The color palette: Pati revealed the products from Lancome and Laura Mercier that she used to create Margot's '90s-inspired red carpet look on Wednesday night
What's old is new again: Kendall Jenner (left) and Hailey Baldwin (right) were too young to wear make-up in the '90s, but thanks in part to them, the decade's trends are making a comeback
LIPS
In keeping with the monochromatic theme, try a pink beige lipstick like Laura Mercier Lip Parfait Creamy Colourbalm in Amaretto Swirl.
In true '90s fashion, Pati finished Margot's look by lining the lips with a peachy-pink pencil.
HAIR
The power bob is having a major moment; Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Rowan Blanchard and Margot are among the growing list of stars that have been rocking the cropped look.
Hairstylist Jen Atkin, who works with Kendall and Bella recently told Vogue, 'As much as I love a good bedhead wave, it was time to bring back a good ’90s blowout.'
Margot took the nostalgic style to the next level on Wednesday when she wore a glossy, straight style with flipped ends on Good Morning America.
If you're not yet ready to cut your hair into a bob, there's good news: According to It girls like Hailey Baldwin, the scrunchie is back.
