Minka Kelly says Harvey Weinstein requested hotel room meeting and promised her a 'lavish life' if she would be his girlfriend - but says it's 'the day-to-day b***shit of being an actress'

Minka Kelly is the latest actress to come forward and claim that she was sexually harassed by Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein. 

In a lengthy post on Instagram, the Friday Night Lights  star wrote that she met Weinstein at an industry event and soon after was asked by her agent if she would be willing to meet him at his hotel room to discuss her career.

Kelly said that she agreed to the meeting but refused to go to Weinstein's room, and instead met him at the restaurant inside his hotel with an assistant.

'He bulls*** me for 5 minutes re: movies he could put me in, then asked the assistant to excuse us,' said Kelly.

'As she walked away, he said, "I know you were feeling what I was feeling when we met the other night” and then regaled me with offers of a lavish life filled with trips around the world on private planes etc.

'IF I would be his girlfriend.'

Kelly went on to say however that this sort of encounter is typical for actresses in Hollywood, illustrating how rampant a problem this is in the industry.

'All I knew was not to offend this very powerful man and to get out of the situation as quickly as possible,' wrote Kelly.

'I told him while flattered, I'd like to keep things professional.' 

She then made her exit after Weinstein asked her to never repeat what he had asked, a request she kept for years.

Kelly did however speak to her team about the meeting. 

'I immediately told my agent what happened,' wrote Kelly.

'We marveled at his audacity, reinforced my instinct not to offend him & laughed at how glad I was to get out of there.'

She then added: 'Neither of us were that surprised as this wasn’t far off from the day-to-day b***shit of being an actress.' 

She posted a photo of a cross stitch alongside her post that read: 'Boys will be Boys.'

The second 'boys' was crossed out at the bottom however, and stitched in was 'held accountable for their f***ing actions.' 

She did not say what year this meeting happened or if Weinstein was married at the time. 

Kelly has only appeared in one of Weinstein's films, with the actress cast as Jackie Kennedy in 'The Butler.' 

The actress said that she now wishes she had spoken out about the incident.

'I'm sorry for obliging his orders to be complicit in protecting his behavior, which he obviously knew was wrong or he wouldn’t have asked me not to tell anyone in the first place,' said Kelly. 

'For making him feel ok about the gross things he was saying and that I felt my only route was to say I was flattered. 

'For not insisting that my reps never allow anyone to take a meeting in a hotel room (with him or anyone else), because I honestly don’t know what might have happened if I’d just showed up as originally scheduled.' 

Kelly then took a stand for herself, and all women, in Hollywood.

'I am appalled for all the women being told these occurrences are in any way their fault,' wrote the actress. 

'No more Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood does not solve the problem but maybe the more voices sharing their stories and adding support to the countless women and men who have suffered through abuse of power, the less it will be tolerated.'

Many women and even a few men in Hollywood have been inspired to come forward and share their stories after actresses including Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Mira Sorvino and Rosanna Arquette revealed that they were harassed by Weinstein.

Rose McGowan and Asia Argento have also gone public with their accusations of rape against the movie mogul. 

No voice has been louder than McGowan in speaking out about sexual harassment, and calling out those who do not stand up for women.

On Thursday, the actress took aim at Ryan Gosling over his delayed response to the allegations against Weinstein. 

'I want to add my voice of support for the women who have had the courage to speak out against Harvey Weinstein,' wrote Gosling on Twitter.

'Like most people in Hollywood, I have worked with him and I’m deeply disappointed in myself for being so oblivious to these devastating experiences of sexual harassment and abuse. He is emblematic of a systemic problem.'

He then added: 'Men should stand with women and work together until there is real accountability and change.'

Weinstein Company released Gosling's 2010 film 'Blue Valentine' with Michelle Williams.

McGowan wrote back to Gosling after reading his statement: 'You could at least do us the courtesy of saying our names.'

She later added: 'How will you stand for change? #BEBRAVE' 

Weinstein has denied most of the allegations being made against him as more women continue to come forward.

'Any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Mr. Weinstein. Mr. Weinstein has further confirmed that there were never any acts of retaliation against any women for refusing his advances,' said a spokesperson for Weinstein. 

'Mr. Weinstein obviously can't speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual. 

'Mr. Weinstein has begun counseling, has listened to the community and is pursuing a better path. Mr. Weinstein is hoping that, if he makes enough progress, he will be given a second chance.'
